We have one child at UPES and have come to the school from a small private school one year ago. Our experience at UPES has been wonderful and for the first time our son actually likes school. The teachers are very supportive and committed. The school environment and community is very pleasant and inviting. We highly recommend UPES and the Hamburg School District!

I have two children in the UPES system. My daughter, the older child, has been successful in spite of some issues with teachers. Several times I felt the environment was too lax and undisciplined; staff turnover was definitely an issue for her. My son, who has been near the bottom of his class from first through fifth grade, has struggled. I feel teachers, epecially those with limited experience, are too quick to give up on children. They make them the 'specialists problem'. Well, continuity from one year to the next with specialists and teachers has been awful. I wish we would have considered private school earlier. My son would have benefitted from a summer school program, if the school would run one! So, over the summer, I pay for private reading classes. I refuse to kiss up and sing the praises of UPES!

I have had two children attend this school, and other than a few issues with my older, child, I have had excellent experience with the teachers and administrators. When we realized there was an issue with my son, they were eager and willing to help resolve the issue, using the least restrictive methods available to get him the help he needs. My younger child has only attended for one year, but it was an excellent year, and she is looking forward to starting up again soon.

I attended UPES from kindergarten through sixth grade. My daughter (now in third grade) has been at UPES since kindergarten--before that, she was at Charlotte Avenue (also in the Hamburg system) for two years of preschool. UPES is a fabulous school! I had some of my fondest memories, gained a solid educational foundation, and had the opportunity to explore various interests. As a student, I had wonderful teachers--as a parent, I have been thrilled with my daughter's teachers' commitment to their students, and their overall enthusiasm. The facilities are great, the staff is involved, the community is welcoming. My daughter looks forward to going to school every day. UPES has been one of the main reasons I have chosen to remain in Hamburg--a quality school is invaluable!

UPES is a wonderful school with great caring teachers. Having 3 children in this school (one is special needs) has been a rewarding experience for all of us. The teachers are right on top of any academic problems the children may have and offer all the services they need to get & stay on track with the other students. The entire Hamburg school district staff is to be commended for their hard work & dedication to our children.
