A great transition from another district..Very friendly, professional, helpfuli couldnt say enough about this school..My daughter loves it.
I lo Farragut Middle School becuse it is a supportive school where my child receives the encouragement she needs to succeed. The teachers and staff are professionsl.
My son had an excellent experience in this school under the tutellage of Ms. Gail Kipper. Ms. Kipper is exceptionally helpful to parents. My husband and I wrote the wrong meeting date on our calendar, and Ms. Kipper put together a formidable meeting for us with the school psychologist, counselor, and teacher's within minutes. I am not surprised that this school received a blue ribbon for excellence with Ms. Kipper at its helm. MG
Under the excellent leadership of Principal Gail Kipper, FMS is an amazing school! My son transitioned from 4th grade at Hillside Elementary to 5th grade at FMS this school year and he is having a wonderful year. He has an experienced, talented, dedicated and caring teacher in Jackie Marcus. Each day, he bounds out of bed and looks forward to going to school. It does not get better than that! His class does everything from performing Shakespeare to reviewing/outlining a NY Times article each week and presenting it aloud to the class and everything in between.
We moved from Scardsdale and were delighted to find the Farragut Middle School a breath of fresh air. Unlike Scarsdale, the focus in Hastings is on the child learning, instead of training them to get high test scores.
In this school a one-size-fits-all approach is what governs special education, or the education of anyone at either end of the bell curve.
Transition from 4th grade to 5th grade was very difficult for my child. Not all 5th grade teachers are great, and push way beyond some children's limits. Hastings Middle School puts children under a lot of pressure to succeed too soon; therefore stressing children out at an early age. There is a big emphasis on music in the school, which is great! However, it is a shame that art is not a requirement once in the 6th grade.
Farragut Middle School has alot of great enrichment classes for all intrests. It is required all 7th grade students take some form of music. Whether it's chourus, Band, Orchestra or General Music. Also, many 6th graders learn 7th grade things towards the end of the year, wich means 7th grade learns 8th grade math and so on. It is one of the best schools in the Westchester County. Hense the 'a blue ribbonn school' slogan.
The middle school in this small town, tight-knit community is astounding. The teachers and faculity are knowledgable, friendly and uniquely committed to the students' needs. Small classroom sizes and diverse enrichment courses are just two of many reasons to enroll your child. Parent involvement is strongly encouraged; the teachers are receptive to critique, imput, questions and concerns. There is a heavy emphasis placed on the arts as well- the music and art departments are stafferd by creative experts in their fields, and the theater department, run by Mr. Gerald Marciano (an English teacher in the high school) is beyond compare. A great find for any parent looking for a school that will inspire their child to succeed in every aspect of their life.
My children have both had wonderful experiences at Farragut Middle School. Most of the teachers have been inspiring and challangeing for my two daughters. My oldest daughter went on to do extremely well in Hastings High School and she was accepted and will be going to Brandeis next year. My younger daughter is in 7th grade and seems to be doing really well so far.
