This is one of the worst schools I have seen. Too much homework, teachers who are out of touch with kids issues, and if you have a sp education child, expect them to just get pushed through because that department is lacking as well. If you can pay to have your children go somewhere else if would be advisable.
My son's teacher, mrs. Durkee, is one of the best teachers my son has ever had. She always has to put fun into work. Some people think that work is more important than fun, so they may not like her. But i disagree with that because she still does do work, but she makes if more fun than normal. I know that when i was in school, i used to regret going. But my son loves going to homer intermediate school because of her teachings. If all of teh teachers were fun, everyone would love going to school. So lets try to get all of the teachers together adn make school fun.
This school gives too much homework at night. I hate all of the subjects besides science. I wish that c.A. Had less time because it is just way too long. At night, i would like to do my homework in about a half hour to an hour, and then go outside and ride my bike for a couple of hours.
Homework at Homer intermediate school is supposed to be about an hour a night. My son is still doing his homework 4-5 hours after starting. Very very poor job teaching. As a parent I feel that I am teaching my son sixth grade.
If you have a child that does not have any special needs then this school is okay. If not, then your child will be labeled and just passed through, whether they are learning or not.
