The first two 5-star ratings are fraudulent, or absurdly biased. I loved some of the people I met here, and the experiences I had, but overall this is a flawed institution infested with disrespect and apathy. Most of the teachers are very kind and intelligent people, however. There is just so much degeneracy, and the administration wishes for nothing but to constantly brush this under the carpet. They refuse to address problems within the institution. The admin's real agenda is to make money (this is no profound statement), so students of affluence tend to flourish despite their obvious negative traits. For all that I have said, I still have an affection for this place and the faculty who try so adamantly to preserve some sense of order and growth. The real fault can be traced to the morally weak administration. Send your gifted and talented young here to improve this place.
My son went to Hoosac School and really enjoyed the three years he spent at the school. We feel it was well worth the effort and expense to send him to such a fine learning institution. The staff at Hoosac are marvelous and very concerned with each student. The small student teacher ratio makes learning easier for most students. I would highly recommend Hoosac School to anyone who is looking for a concerned caring place to send their child for a good education.
Hoosac is a small, supportive, high quality school where the kids essentially meld into a large family. The teachers are excellent and dedicated; the classes are small, well taught and appropriately demanding; and the staff, both teachers and administrators are always accessible to both students and parents. All interpersonal problems are dealt with quickly, effectively and fairly. It's been wonderful to see how mature our son has become since matriculating at Hoosac.
This is a very nice, small, friendly school with a low-key atmosphere. Student/teacher ratio is 5 to 1, with many teachers living on campus. Hockey is the big sport. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, basketball, skiing, and others are offered also. Music is somewhat limited-at a small school, there will be fewer large departments. My 15 year old daughter was part of a rock band-she plays guitar. I have 2 children, both girls, in Hoosac. they are much happier than in public school. the exposure to the many foreign students has been broadening for them. Underachievers will do well here, as will honor students.tuition is very reasonable, compared to most other schools. This is NOT a super-prestigious prep school, like Andover or Exeter. The atmosphere is much more relaxed, however. The staff are very approachable, and the school setting is beautiful.
This school is family oriented and boosts students to study hard. Student actually score higher than other school's students as for the testing system in Hoosac.
The students come first. Wonderful community atmosphere with an abundance of attention paid to each students needs and personal development. My son came back a better person after one year at Hoosac. The school teaches accountability, responsibility growth and overall mental, physical, emotional and spiritual development. In addition they have a wonderful Hockey program run by a fantastic AD and one of the better coaches in New England
