Bullying at this school is the worse I've ever seen (and I do have 2 older children who attended different NYC public schools). The parents do not discilpine their children and the school looks the other way and lets it go on. I've never experienced such a large number of spolied children and adults. I will be taking my son out of this school before September. However, the teachers are wonderful. It's a shame that they are doing away with the honors program for the middle school students. Some of these kids are serious students and have worked really hard to get into the ARP program & now they will have no honors listed on their 7th grade transcripts. The principal is constantly making terrible decisions and the children suffer.
Wow these posts are terrible! I am shocked by the reviews. Yes there are some parents at the school that are very clicky. There are some parents that will look down to you if you are not rich or do not belong in the district. What hey don't want is out of zoned kids they suspect will be a problem. If you show them attitutde they have no problem showing one back. My sons are out of zone and everyone knows it because I disclose it to all of the parents. I have never heard of a list! H.B. is really a small area and everyone is either friends or a friend of. They know who belongs in the school and who doesn't. If you have issues ignore it . Give it time and you will find you love it here and your kids are getting the best education around. Maybe you guys are being a bit quick to judge. Racist, come on! It is majority white, but saying the school is racist is just totally wrong. There are kids from all walks of life here that have no problem. There is good and bad at any school. However, this school just happens to be top rated.
This school allows bullying. They do not protect the victim. When the victim tries to defend themself they get into trouble. The bullies continue to get away with it because they get no repercussion. The aides are not well trained on how to monitor the children inside and outside.
Just rang about the procedure to register my daughter for kindergarten as I've just moved into the neighborhood and my conversatioin with the principle was very unpleasant. She proceeded to ask whether I had bought a home in the neighborhood and when I advised her that I am leasing, she told me that I needed 2 proofs of address which I am aware is process but she seemed bothered that I was just a tenant and not an owner. She had the nerve to ask whether my landlord claims my living there on his taxes and that I may be required for him to physically be there with me as proof. I'm sorry but if that is the attitude the principal has, I certainly do not want my daughter learning her social manners from someone like that. Shame!
Every year they put a list out for the out of zoned kids twice a year. I tried agin putting my child on this list and all of a sudden they are telling me that there is so such list and you must be zoned for the school which I find Very, Very funny. There are a good amount of children that are not zoned for this school and I found the ladies in the office are so unprofessional and rude.
this school is only good if you spoil your kids with juicy, uggs, ed hardy, and northface. My children were made fun of because they never liked the clothing the other children liked. everyone is racist and judgmental. its not the education that counts in that school, its how wealthy you are.
Solid education overall. Teachers are for the most part very good and genuinely care about their students. Class sizes are relatively small and faculty get to know all of the students. No after school activities to speak of and very few celebrations or fun extracurricular activities for the children. The biggest complaint about the school is the way that parents are treated in the school. There is a very distinct and pervasive feel that parents are not appreciated nor welcomed in the school. Parents are invited to very few events during the course of the year. It's a shame, too, because the children appear to be treated very well. If only the parents could have a chance to be a part of the environment, this school could be truly outstanding.
We have wonderful children and teachers as well as the rest of the staff. Our school is safe and clean! Our PTA is the best!!
Our school is great. The principle, the staff and especially the teachers are terrific. They all really care about the children.
My kids love going to school everyday. I think that says a lot about the teachers and staff and general atmosphere of the school!!!
The teachers, administrators, aides, paras, safety officers & kitchen staff all work as a great team. Their #1 priority is the safety & education of all the children. The dedication i have seen displayed is unrivaled by many schools that i am familiar with (thru friends or family) in many other districts.
This is in responds to the post on Oct 26 2008. Laurie Heedles was the best thing that ever happened to P.S/M.S 207 s P.A. She cared about the school, the kids, and even the teachers. That is more then I can say about the P.A President before her or the one after her. She knew what she was doing and put the kids before everything. The school will never be the same with out her. She is and always will be the best P.A President P.S/M.S 207 could have hoped to have. To the new parents, I am sorry you did not get to know her. I am a parent that has had at least one of my children in the school for the past 12 years. So I have seen the best and the worst of P.S/M.S 207. The school is and will always be a good school. The problem is now it does not have a P.A that stands for anything anymore. They raise money; and spend money, that is all. I am just glad that P.S/M.S 207 became a middle school before this new P.A took over because they could have never did what the old P.A did. (And yes, it was the P.A of P.S 207 that made the school a middle school) The new P.A has no leadership They do not stand up for anything. The P.A has a lot of power if you have the right people running it Hope to see that change soon ..
I disagree with the statement made 1/16. I know for a fact that PS207 is a Great school and we should be Thankful for the adminstration/teachers that work there they are caring and understanding individuals. We as parents should understand what they do on a daily basis to keep our children safe and should respect them for it not put them down. I don't see what you see. I see more children coming to this school because of safety. Whats sad is that you can not see that.
i was here for 9 years. PS 207 was more of a home rather than a school. the teachers aren't there to yell or make you fail. They always look for the best for their students. Though Laurie Heedles ruined 207 when she was there, its still a strong school that I recommend.
My child graduated Pre-k this year and I couldnt have ask for a better experince for his first year of school! Thank you P.S 207 it was a pleasure..
My son just graduated Pre-K his teacher was Mrs. Pizzariella. I couldnt have asked for a better teacher and staff for my sons 1st school year.
I have been attending MS207 for 9 years and I am in 7th grade. I feel that this is the best school for me to go to, but I only rate it a 3 because the school got uniforms 2 years ago and they are uncomfortable.
this is the best school for my child.she loves this school.the teachers are so wonderful and patient.she has been in this school for 9 years, and it has been nothing but pleasure.
