This school is the best in the world. Oakwood has the best Dual Language Program.

My son entered kindergarten into the dual language program offered at oakwood sept 2006. Both k teachers have been terrific! they keep on top of everything. There is a clear balance in their teachings of the primary language english, and 2nd language, spanish. My son is already able to read in both languages(ofcourse with continued practice after school). Who said american kids aren't capable of learning 2 languages in public schools as does the rest of the world. So far we've had positive experiences with this school and look forward to our 2nd son entering k into the dual language program this fall.

The township of Huntington severely discriminates against south Huntington school district. Dix Hills school district, which has a much higher per capita income clearly receives higher qualified teachers, smaller classrooms and provide extra help for their students. South Huntington spends most of the budget on foreign ESL students which dramatically impacts the quality of academics to the rest of the students. Their is no extra help for the students and the school needs a major overhaul by the state.

My child attending Oakwood. He did well academically but had mixed experiences. He has several outstanding teachers, but the Principal leadership is weak and there is too much turnover with the Vice Principal position. There are some weak unmotivated teachers that are pulling down the outstanding teachers. They administration does not make the effort that is made in other schools in the district, even though the majority of the teachers are excellent.

This will be our first year but so far the teacher and principal have been very thoughtful, interested and caring. The plan seems to be right on with leading school plans in private schools we have looked at. Ill let you know more

My son attended Oakwood for Kindergarten and 1st grades, and overall he was very happy there. They really take they opportunity to understand each child's individual needs and to focus their learning environments accordingly. I was very pleased with the education that he received there.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.
