CRES is excellent! I have had nothing but positive communication with the faculty and staff of CRES.

The school has educated my family for 40 plus years and my childen are proof of the quality of education that they received. My grandaughter now attends the same school and she shows signs of being a extremely gifted child who is being brought along by the schhol system with the proper teaching systems. Kudos for Commack Road School as well as the entire Islip School District.

I find the the staff at CRES to be incredibly caring a nurturing. From the custodians to the office staff and definitely the teachers.(cafeteria staff, not so much) The children are cared for and safe at this school. The level of education is unsurpassed. The teachers are consumate professionals who engage the children daily in literacy rich, thought provoking lessons. I am most impressed with with this school

Islip schools are overcrowded. The school district seems to expect far too much from young children. The curriculm is so disjointed-- (as a former teacher I am constantly surprised by the disorganization of his lessons). One day they are doing money, the next they jump to complex assignments about geometry. Too bad if you can't catch on! Another bad thing about Islip schools is that it is very 'cliquey.' The PTA and other organizations want help, but there is always an 'in' crowd that seems to run things. Be wary if your child has any 'deviation' from the norm because the schools are not sympathetic to anyone a little slower to catch on.

Good mix of cultures in this school and the school also provides special education students the opportunity to 'mainstream' by having small cluster classes offered in a transitional program where they go into a regular-sized class to take the 3 rs and then back to the small class, as well as taking gym, music and art classes with the so-called 'regular' students. My son went through this transitional program and succeeded so well that he went back to district in a regular-sized class (no special ed) in only a year.

This is an excellent school. One which I attended my self as a child. It is a school which provides a safe environment and staff who offer open communication. So far all the teachers my child has had have been supportive and encouraging. My child loves school and that makes us very parents as well.

I am a former student of CRES and I must say my time attending the school was a great experience. I made friends there that I will have for the rest of my life, and I will remember great teachers who had a large deal to do with my success then and even now. I have not stayed in the Islip School District for too many years, but if I could have my children attend CRES in the future, it would be an opportunity not passed up.

My son is in the 4th grade and has gotten the highest score on the e l a tests. His reading score was perfect. I am very pleased academically. The music dept. is awesome. He has learned the bass clarinet and was promoted to level 2 band.I think we should be proud that the school is so good. There are too many parents bad mouthing schools.
