I enrolled my daughter in this school for kindergarten after moving to the area from Brooklyn , and i must this school is way above average compared to her previous school . i have seen parent participation that exceeds what i have seen in many other schools. this school is a magnet school for arts and music, the teachers go above and beyond there duties to ensure the kids get the best education possible in a public school system.

My experience at P.S. 117 has been positive and uplifting. One could not have asked for a better staff - parent relationship. This school offers a large number of extracurriculum activities such as the Magnet Program , a well attended and modicly priced PTA run Afterschool program, the Talented and Gifted Program (TAG), the sports and Title 1 program. My son graduated from PS 117 and went on to an equally disciplined environment at Queens Gateway to Health Sciences Secondary School. My daughter is a current student who takes advantage of every available activities. The fundraisers at PS 117 are superb. Graduates look forward to attending the shool's annual Halloween and Valentine's Day Dance. Theatrical productions such as The Beauty and the Beast, and High School Musical were well attended. I recommend this school to parents and students striving for a highly disciplined oriented environment.

I think the teachers(some) are not professionally dressed as teachers should be. They are setting examples not going to clubs and casual events! secondly, they do not have the patience with the younger children or the proper problem solving techniques that is used amongst little kids.Thirdly, once a kid has made a few mistakes he/she is automatically labeled as the bad apple. Again, no patience and no proper experience.

I feel very welcome whenever I enter the school. The staff is helpful, our problems are immediately attended to and the principal, Mr. Katz is everywhere at the same time...he is amazing! Inspite of such limited funds, I believe its an amazingly run school.

This is a horrible school. The teachers are very scrict and the school food is too unhealthy. I also found that this schools academics are not up to par.
