This is one of the worst schools in the district. It has very poor education standards.

Just toured the school recently. The parent coordinator was very nice and helpful. The students seemed to be very well-behaved. However, the school does not offer any extracurricular activity anymore (sad). It does not have a gym either, so the PE teachers will lead the children to do exercise in the classrooms of limited space on a bad weather day. That could be many school days! In-class parent involvement is not encouraged, but they have night time workshops for the parents from time to time. The principal should really organize some extracurricular activities for the for the kids otherwise they would become nerds!

I graduated from PS 131 in January 1944 and was well prepared for additioal education as were most of my classmates. I went on to Brooklyn Technical HS and then to Rensselaeo Polytechnical Instute culminating in a Masters Degree in Metallurgical Engineering. PS 131 gave me the foundation. I would like to obtain a list of the members of the class of January 1944. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Harry Ambs

I think the leadership is phenomenal! The principal is focused on the need of the children. The staff is also great! The principal has instilled the same values in the staff. I think it's one of the best schools in District 29!

Ps131 has been a good experience for my children. The school administration has no control over the teachers. especially those teacher's who mistreat children. However, the work isn't challenging for the students. The children who need help they aren't given them the services they need because they want to save money in their budget. At Ps131 parent's aren't respected by the school when they discuess issues to the faculty.Ps131 staff needs to put children first. Teacher's has help student in the past during State Exams. Some Parent's opinion aren't important when they have concern's about their children. PS 131 staff need to realize it's all about educating children mentally and physically nurturing our children so they can grow.

My thrid grader goes their and the entire school body is all about working with parents. When childen know teachers have dialog with their mom and dad, they give a higher standard in class, and perform at the level the parents promote at home. I am of the students and teachers at this school.

I attened this school years ago. It was a great school, will not alot of programs. I see that the school is growning due to the portable buildings outside in the school yard. The teachers are good, and the parent participation is good but as usual could be better. The kids get a good education here.
