5star.My daughter is 3rd grader and she loved her school. The teachers are great.
The first time i saw this school - I sense serious education and a peacefull and friendly environment. Ms Rotando whom I met with during the last day of school has spent time and shown a lot of patience and answer all questions and given intelligent advise in the most effiecient manner. I searched many schools to place my kindergarden child in and should this school had the program that is required for him I would be the first on line for regristration. Ms. Rotando, you had given advise of a parent, teacher, educator and good citizen all in one. Thank you, PS 161 has earned their prestige with peope like you. BKhan
I am a parent of Arthur Ashe Charter School my son graduate this year and he will be a first grader. I love this school an I am very involved and excited to know that there is a school that cares about the children well being and is behind all of the students.
I am a parent with a Kindergartner in the school. I am soooo happy with the attention she gets. I think it has a great curriculum and her teacher is great too. I couldn't believe it when my daughter, in kindergarten, came home with sheets of homework the first day of school! She is learning so much and is starting to read. P.S. 161 is giving my daughter a quality primary education.
Great school, My son goes there and is excelling in every subject. All his grade teachers so far has been great and cooperative. The environment is always clean and I do not know about any other kid but mine have a perfect attendance record because mainly of the spotless and clean sorrundings, and healthy eating. Great Great school.
This school is amazing. The teachers are great, the breakfast program is wonderful, and there is always a wonderful and healthy lunch. The school has a computer with around 35 computers and every classroom has atleast 2 computers. The music program is good, when I was a student two years ago, I was in the chorus. The school has many functions like a Valentines Day Dance, Multi-culteral Night, Thanksgiving Dinner, and many many more. There`s a BBQ every year as well as field day. The children are lucky to be involved in so many things. This school is wonderful, it`s in a great environment, and a great experience altogether.
P.S. 161 is a great school. Its facility is always clean. The school has a good breakfast and lunch program--a good variety. The class size is ok. Yes---much homework, homework, homework. If you have a child who needs special education or has other specialized needs, for example, occupational/physical/speech therapy, P.S. 161 is a good choice. There is a specialized nurse on staff just for these children. The principal is new (1 year)--seems to want to work in programs for the best interest of the school. The assistant principal has been there since the school opened. She is very good with the children.
