its nice sometimes youll get a teacher who gives 2 much hw but overall 5/5
Great school, the principal is the best. She gets things done and makes you feel like you're important. This is hard to get at a big school. MOST of the teachers are dedicated and love to help with exceptions of a few.
I love how every staff members and teachers know the students in school, which makes it easier to bond and get help from the staff members. The school is smaller, which means the school can pay more attention to all the students unlike a really big school. Our school also has fundraiser events to help with charity and consists of dances and many shows.
It's peaceful. The teachers and students are very close. There are many events. The grades are closely knit and everybody gets along well. It's my second home.
Its small so you know everyone very easily and the students and teachers are really nice
Queens High School for the Sciences is a school that not only teaches its students well academically, rather it also prepares students for the real world while creating an excellent atmosphere to learn well. I loved my experiences at qhssyc. It was truly great, the teachers, the students, the environment. In qhssyc, we were truly a family, everyone literally knew everyone, and we helped each other succeed. This school excels in almost all apects
It's a small school, so everyone knows each other. This place, is literally like a family. Not only does your peers know your name, the teachers, deans, and even our own principal knows you. They also offer a variety of classes to the students, however, if we did get the money, I'm sure we could fund our clubs / technology. Such as smart boards, etc.
We have the best teachers :D and all the students are friendly XP Plus we have 'advanced' classes LOL
We're amazing! we're on a college campus, have a swim team, tennis team, and handball team (who has ever heard of a handball team?!). Although we only have about 400 students, we learn more, and have personal relationships with the teachers. Since we have so few students, we're located mainly on one floor, which is good, because we don't have to worry about being late to school! there are sooo many to mention, but i need to do my hw now :) soo, I'll leave it at that.
I love my school! ;] Even though the homework/exams/projects may be too much sometimes; the friends you make there are all worth it in the end!
In addition to my previous entry... Oh and another thing: usually in order to pass the regents you need to have a score of 65 or higher right? Well, in my math class, even if you pass the regents with, let s say, a 78, you ll most likely fail, because my math teacher sets our standard at a score of a minimum of 85. About the campus, I would say that the facilities that are available to us are very good. We are allowed to use the gymnasium, the swimming pool, and the cafeteria. The cafeteria is excellent because the college provides a space reserved just for the high school students. Also, it provides Blimpie, pizza, Chinese food, and much more which helps keep students on the campus during lunch instead of going out on Jamaica Ave, which can be very unsafe at times.
safe school enviroment, very good teachers ready to help the students when they need it, plenty of enrichment activities.
My daughter, very achievement-oriented, says she is finally enrolled in a school where she feels at home and among like-minded students. The faculty is very involved in their students' progress and well-being.
Our school is extra-ordinary. The teachers work extra hard to provide us with over the top education. Despite the fact that we do get about 4 hours of homework, projects that ruin our weekends and 5 tests in one week, we are well prepared for the majority of our state/city exams that colleges often look at. Although our school is in a rather rough location, the faculty makes sure that no one is left alone after school hours. All in all, the school is great, the kids are supportive of one another and the school atmosphere is nothing but love. complaints- there are not enough after school sports programs or activies that may keep us occupied, so our life doesn't always revolve around work, which can be stressful. We also don't have lockers, which makes carrying around poster projects or our belongings quite difficult, as we could possibly lose them.
Hi my name is Mike Miloslovic and I ma a student at the Queens High School for Sciences. I love this high school. First off because there are sports teams and there are many classes and electives. I get about 4 hours of homework each night. The comment left by the parent below is absolutely false. I work hard, very hard to keep my grades above 93, as my average is about a 96.56. Queens Science is the second best high school in Queens comparable to that of Townsend Harris in my opinion.
I have yet to see the high acedemic standards of homework given compared to the other Specialized High Schools in the N.Y.City area.If my son gets 2 hours of homework a night it would be a lot. Other schools have at least 3 to 4 hours of work per night. Most of the homework are 1 page handouts and not one project requires more than 3,4 or 5 pages. There are few sports teams with little experience in coaching due to the fact that the teachers are working very hard to do many things including running clubs, coaching and teaching. The school has great aspirations but lacks many resources to accomplish some of them. Overall, my child couldn't be in a safer environment with a student body that is very respectful to the teachers and parents.
Major improvements have been made in developing the school. The school now has several PSAL team and clubs. The relationship with the college has improved tremendously. The first graduating class (Class of 2006) has great college statistics, with over 10 acceptances to NYU, 3 TO IVY LEAGUE institutions and many students in the top SUNY schools. All of the graduates attend a four year college. The QHSSYC community has grown from its creation 5 years ago and still is growing in excellence. Regents scores climb higher and higher every year and several AP courses are being offered not to mention the available college courses from York college. The school is very safe, with no major fights reported.
Not enough sports teams Small class size and great teachers great test scores A large assortment of clubs
