I am a parent and I was a student of KES myself once upon a time. I loved it and I would love for my children to get to go there. It is and was a wonderful place to grow and learn!
I think it's a wonderful school district, however, it is expensive. Some teachers are incredible and a few coast (it is a union even though it says union-free). Not crazy about Everyday Math, we supplement at home. Also, I wish it allowed individual students to be more competitive (in a variety of ways).
We couldn't be happier with KES.
We moved our family to Katonah because of the school system and community. KES is an amazing school. It feels like a private school. The teachers and principal/v.p. are very professional with a real focus on education. My daughter has learned so much developed many new interests. I am impressed.
I agree with the last comment. It's a terrific place where the teachers treat their students like their own children. They will 'jump through hoops' to make a child feel comfortable in school thus creating an environment that promotes success in school. The person who wrote the comment about a 'half day' program most certainly is someone who's only looking for a place to dump their 5-year-old child all day. Just hire a babysitter if you don't want to be with your child! Don't blame an entire school district for having an appropriate program in place the average 5-year-old.
I am absolutely shocked at the other reveiw. KES is a wonderful public school that rates up there with the private schools in the area.
Run for the hills! Kindergarten is a HALF DAY program. The teachers care more about how they dress than about your kids. You will end up teaching your own child on your own time because he/she most certainly will not be learning in the classroom. Save your tax $$, don't move to Lewisboro. The entire district is more interested in securing funding for their 'special programs' than about real education. You have been warned.
