One of the reasons Sophie Finn Elementary is a great school is because of its small size. That means staff and students know each other, keep an eye out things to celebrate and problems to solve, and are able to make new students feel at home quickly. In fact, many new students who have transferred here with 'reputations' respond very well to our welcoming atmosphere, and happily find a fresh start at Sophie Finn. We have a very diverse student population, and I think that definitely helps our school to be well rounded and sensitive to different kinds of people. Our staff is experienced, and no matter the slings and arrows of daily life, teachers are always professional in regards to how students are treated. We have a small but dedicated core of parents who enhance the students' learning experiences through their PTO fundraising efforts, and as for the principal, his motto is, 'Students first!'.
Sophie Finn is awesome. The atmosphere facilitates learning and character development. My oldest has attended since 2005....their test scores are the highest of all the elementary schools in the district. The principal is wonderful, and the teachers and staff are too. They have added additional sections of 3rd and 4th and will add another 5th in Sept. The classes are a nice size.
I have had two children in this school. The teachers are the most dedicated and talented that any parent could hope for.
My daughter is in Kindergarten and so far, I love it! I just wish that more parents would get involved in their childs education, working or not. Education is the most important thing we can give them!
My child attends the pre-k and seems quite happy with it. I love that its not just about playtime and coloring. Learning is the key factor and my daughter is doing well.
great school, but I think it needs to re-concider having pre-k so that it can make smaller classes for 3-5th grades. they are way to big.
Good school to say the most. Too much homework given from certian teachers.
My child has attended SGF for two years. We have enjoyed small class sizes (11 - 16 children), though that will not be the case for grades 3 - 5. The principal was wonderful and knew each child by name. He also was helpful in increasing public awareness about the existence of SGF (it has only been re-opened for several years). I will miss him as he has moved on to another school. The school itself is probably fine for most kids, but our child performs several levels above her grade and could benefit from accelerated learning opportunities which have not been available.
