My daughter attended PS 70 for Kindergarten and 1st Grade and I can tell you that the school is grossly overcrowded. The school aides cannot keep their eyes on all the children during reecess and as a result children are hurt - by accident or in fights - every single day. The principal appears to have an open door policy but simply does so to pacify a parent an often seems to have her own agenda. My major objection is that they mix non-english speaking students with english speaking students and expect the children to teach each other the language. As a result, my child was not learning to her potential. Myhusband and I both attended PS 70 as children and were thrilled to be able to have our daughter attend until we realized things certainly have changed!

I have a child in Pre-K. I have been most impressed by the openness of the school's staff to help get new parents acclimated to the environment.

This school gets an A+ from our family, My daughter is entering 4th grade and has been there since Kindergarden, before moving to the city my parents dreaded me enrolling my daughter into the'New Yorks City Public School system' We interveiwed dozens of expensive private schools. This school toped any of those schools. It has a happy medium of teachers that go the extra mile, an involved principle, and staff & medium # of students per class- about 18/22. Very family oriented, I cannot say enough about this school!!
