Baccalaureate is extremely challenging academically. One student put in our newspaper: 'BSGE- a social life, good grades, and sleep. You can only choose two.' Some teachers are incredible and can really open our minds to think about the entire world, but many teachers have absolutely no idea what they are doing. I've been taking extra help to pass our IB exams simply because our teachers can't communicate, don't want to help, or just don't care. It's an extremely frustrating school. Also, the size makes social life at BSGE awkward, and by the 10th grade everyone hates each other. While the younger grades are enthusiastic about knowing everyone, the older grades travel in small groups of 2 or 3 and rarely talk to anyone else. Our school is also incredibly disorganized and things and events are always falling apart. I would not recommend BSGE for anything besides academics.

My child started this school this September in the 7th grade. The school is all about academics, and quite serious about their mission of molding school kids into students. The school was recently placed #38 on the US News list of the 'Top 100 Public High Schools in the US'. The IB Diploma program is the ultimate test of college readiness, students here start preparing for entrance into the program in 10th grade. Foreign language is taught to fluency, 4. 70 minute classes weekly. Choices are Spanish, Chinese and French. This is truly a prep school,it is a school where all of the students commute, but kids still make groups of friends. Leadership is totally committed to the students, teachers and the schools growth.

In terms of the academic program, the International Baccalaureate Diploma program is definitely challenging and stressful. There are some teachers who are excellent in their field and in handling students. Other faculty members are impossible to communicate with, clearly inexperienced, childish and lazy. Also, the new school lacks establishment of numerous sports and extracurricular activities. The social aspect is nonexistent in this school. The overflowing homework, projects, exams and community service requirement prevent students from socializing outside of school. Because it is a small school, the environment can be suffocating. Being in classes with the same people makes it easy for everyone (including teachers) to know one's business. I realize that while the younger grades are enthusiastic and friendly with each other, the older grades are barely alive and separated into groups that barely intermingle.

This school is amazing. The teachers are brilliant and the admin. treats everyone like family. After school you can spend your time eating with the tech advisor or the student aid in the cafeteria. The principal's door is always open and there are always students sitting around talking to him. Everything is very serious but also extremely goofy and playful at the same time. The school promotes a 'can do attitude'. If you're interested anything the school doesn't offer you can start your own club. At this school you don't only get a great education but you get an even better experience.

This school was new, and the building was small, but other than that, it was awesome! Truly and really awsome. The education was wonderful...I learned loads of stuff and they had this strange way of teaching and grading, but it all flowed so well together, all so insync with each other. There were lots of clubs you could join, and you could stay after school to learn a muscial instrument (free) or stay after school for Art (pottery and such). It was very safe, in a great neighberhood, and the best thing about it was that it felt likea community. We were a little over three hundred...so it felt like we were a family, everybody knew everybody, and everybody was involved in something as well as parents. Plus, very clean and great library! I'd reccomond this school to everybody!
