I think this school leaves a lot to be desired re: it's Special Education program. The overall performance/behaviors of the paras, therapists, psychologists, the principal & especially the district chairperson (Ms. Martini) is mediocre; at best. The SE teachers do, however, have their hearts in the right place & try. It's just not enough. It upsets me tremendously to be stuck in this school & I will try my best to get out ASAP.

Maurice W. Downing has a wonderful learning environment. The teachers are caring and truly dedicated to each child as an individual. The school atmosphere is inviting and all of the children and staff are happy. It's an excellent school. My children made many good friends there and have always had great teachers. There's a terrific after school program available which is very convenient. If you're trying to make a choice for your own child, consider MWDowning. My family is happy we did.

My daughter started kindergarten this school year, and I am extremely happy with her progress. Their workshops also help build children's confidence. I take my daughter to MAC ( Malverne aftercare ) that is a big help since I am a working mom. Excellent teachers and a great principal.

Our son has been attending since kindergarten and we have been very pleased with his progress. Especially the attention he has received when needed. The teachers are wonderful and well prepared. Sending him to Downing has been one of the best decisions we have made. th the bestr decision we have made

My children have been in Downing for four years and I couldn't be happier with the quality of the education they are receiving. The school has an outstanding staff of truly committed and gifted teachers. Class size is very small and there is also a great feeling of community in this school.

After only 4 short months I am certain I made the right decision for my son. I did extensive research on this school district as a whole as well as parochial schools in the area. The teachers are at the top of their game as evidenced by Malverne District 12 having the NY State Teacher of the Year teaching in our middle school. The administration including the Superintendent, Deputy Super and all 4 building principles are committed to the students and having each and every one of them perform academically to the best of their abilities. There is a wonderful mix of culture. This exposure will help insure we raise a well rounded, respectful young man. The level of instruction can not be compared to private schools in the area at the elementary level. I look forward to a long, productive relationship with this school and it's district.

Excellent school! The special education program is the best support system I have ever received for my child education. Teachers, staff, information, location, and condition of the school is way above the average.

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.
