Gersh Academy

i have seen amazing progress from non-verbal children who are now speaking.... the staff should be commended on how wonderful they are working with thier students. customized education is the way to teach..

Gersh has been an amazing experience for us. My son, who was a bright but who suffers from severe ADHD and ODD, was lost in the public schools. A part of his neuopsych was to keep him very academically challenged or he would shut down (which is what happened in the public schools). Gersh basically kept to the plan and now he is productive and totally happy again. They have two programs there - and all hte kids work according to their IEP's so there is a wide range of students - but Gersh saved our family.

There are many different aspects of the Gersh experience and one thing is for sure, at Gersh, your child will flourish. As a current emploee, I can say that Gersh has struggled to meet the needs of the students and have always put students' needs first. Many children have grown and matured and healed in this school and I highly recommend taking the time to look and see for yourself.

Parent thinking of sending your children here: Please read!!!! Beware!!! Do not send you children here! Gersh is a for profit agency that will tell parents whatever they want to hear. As an insider - someone who has worked there- I can tell you that this school is very poorly run administratively. Staff if very poorly supported, unhappy, and underpaid with a very high turn over rate. Classrooms are very poorly equipped with very few books and curriculum guidance, resources, or support for problem behaviors. Basically, teachers are left to 'fend for themselves' and the students suffer as a result. In summary, this school is grossly inadequate with one goal in mind -- to make a profit!!! Parents: Please post or share your experiences or comments here and pass the word around. People need to know the truth.
