Let us bring this forum up to date! As of 2010, my sons second term at this school, I have yet to ever hear from a teacher that he may be failing or is. It is not until I get his report cards that I learn 'he is capable of doing better' ! The same comments by all. So the question is 'if: capable and not doing what he should or lack of motivation, toss it on the working parent? When my son does ask for help, he hears 'another' day, I cant today etc. The root of the problem stems from over population, teachers who are simply burnt out, no longer care and cater to their favored students. I personally know several teens who hate this school and dropped out opting for a G.E.D.

This is a school and district that has come out of some dark times and poor leadership. It is a great school and district and the class sizes are 18 at the primary and 25 in the secondary. Visit and don't listen to the negative few. The facts will speak for themselves.

While there are a plethora of programs and activities for students and teachers (some of the best around), the district is growing faster than it's able to keep up with. Classes have no caps and are too large, lunch rooms are overflowing, and too many teachers have to teach from a cart. The place has gotten too populated and unweildy. Despite its recent expansion, Middletown needs a second high school. The strong will survive.

Middletown High school has some excellent teachers with high standards for learning. You will always find a few teacher who are burnt out and just waiting for retirement Yes, it is very over crowded. The extra activities available are some of the best in the county. Come visit and see for yourself!

The teachers are first class! In the early 90s, the school was unsafe and scary! Then we had a turn around for several years through positive leadership. For the last few years, that leadership was relieved and the school fell apart. Despite that, the teachers still prevailed! The students still shone in everything they did. Any school of that age, in this type of small city will have infrastructure problems, but overall if you are involved as a parent and as a student, you will get a top education for whatever you choose to be in life!

The staff is not equip to handle the influx of people moving up from the city. My daughter was in school there and she was going through hell the staff did nothing. I had to go to the school and demand that something be done with the situation, and of course my daughter was failing. I am glad to say that we have moved to another town the school is wonderful, and she is passing all of her class. Middletown as a whole needs another high school.

I am currently a teacher at MHS and I feel as though we provide all students with a great education. I work very hard every single day to ensure that each and every one of my students gets the best education possible. So to all of the people who say that Middletown does not provide a good education - I totally disagree! Many of our behavior issues come from students with no parental involvement. Get involved in your child's education!! Care about how he/she is doing! To all of you parents that do get involved - thank you! I am very proud to say that I plan to send my children to Middletown High School and I guarantee that I will be involved in their education.

I love going to this school. I'm currently a Junior and I am really going to miss this school when it's time for me to graduate next year.

I've been up in Middletown for over a year and before I moved I had various people tell me not to enroll my kids into the Middletown district. After doing a bit of research we decided to enroll the kids in the schools and if in that one year we were not satisfied we would remove them from the Middletown school district. Overall, the experience as to date has not been bad at all. One of my kids is a honor roll student & the other is in high honors. I believe it takes all to make a school and students. For instance, it is a school that makes a student but I stress that it is the parents responsibilities to teach their children respect and discipine at all times. We have to stop making excuses and show partnership in a community and I bet we will see a difference.
