My son is thriving here at Dutchess Day. The curriculum is well balanced, and the children there are very well mannered.

Dutchess Day School helps build confidence, self esteem and a love of learning. Students are challenged to do their best in all aspects of education. The outstanding results of a DDS education can be see in their secondary school records. It is a true community where young and old children interact, parents are invited to participate often and there is visible bond with the faculty.

Dutchess Day School offers a small, community-oriented school environment where each child is supported and encouraged to pursue a love of learning. The faculty and administration are outstanding in every way and have strong ties with both their students and the parent body. The school's curriculum is based on traditional academics but allows for "outside the box" learning and creativity. Along with strong academics, the school offers an incredible art and music program where students create and perform at a very high level from preschool through 8th grade. Children leave this school with a strong sense of who they are, confidence both socially and academically and with respect for others and for the world they live in. It is a very special school.

A small nurturing school that fosters a love of learning and that my kids gladly attend every morning. The faculty knows every child by name. Older kids are kind and helpful to younger. Academics are excellent. My kids had no trouble with the unconventional math program.

Small, caring community fosters interest for learning in the children. Families are encouraged to get involved in most activities. Great results!

Lots of nice things about DDS. My oldest graduated two years ago and my youngest is still there. Solid but not exciting. Nice people. The music program is good. Latin good. Math the weakest imo because it turns the kids off. Fortunately I can do the math with at home. Good discipline and standards.

A unique school -- rigorous academics, with a secondary school placement record to back that up, in an extremely nurturing and supportive environment. There is almost no teasing/bullying -- kids are free to take chances, e.g. get up on stage and sing a capella. We have three kids at the school and have been there nine years. Cannot recommend it highly enough. As for the Sept. 3 review I should add that my three kids are all boys who've thrived at the school.

A great facility, great choral program, involved parents, rigorus curriclulm. But also a totally feminine, left wing program. A new head may change things, but the faculty needs a good house cleaning.

Fabulous school with small classes, great academics, abundant land/space, many resources and terrific and caring faculty and involved parental community. A great place to send your child

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
