I have been a part of 9 different school districts. This has definitely be one of the higher end, most community-involved I have ever been a part of. Nearly every teacher that I've had the pleasure of associating with has been phenomenal. Sure, statistically speaking, there will always be a teacher or two in a district that a parent becomes unhappy with, but you can't judge a whole district based upon that. I've seen teachers take extra steps beyond the expected roles of a teacher and make a difference in my child's life. The district strives to make the schools better and aims to stay on the cutting edge. They understand how their children are responding to the curriculum by administering their own tests, reviewing the results, and adjusting accordingly.
Both my children went through this District from k-12. Now graduates of College and Graduate School. I can say they received an excellent education and wonderful experiences. They were fully prepared to perform very well in College, Graduate School and now in the work place. As young adults, they both have jobs and support themselves. I credit this District for much of my children's success.
Wonderful, caring teachers. Lots of community involvement, particularly in the elementary schools (could be better at BMMS and the high school). Wide variety of classes for all learning types. Will be even better when the bond passes!
This is one of the worse school districts ever! The teachers are rude! Administration does not care! Terrible!
Hen Hud is a great school district. Although we have had our issues in the past it is still a great place to learn. I believe that the majority of the teachers care about the best interests of us the students. There are also a wide range of classes offered that can keep you occupied and help to develope your abilities and interests
Been involved with the district for 15plus, seem many chances, most for the better. HS the teacher are just there to collect a paycheck at this point. Principal needs to be change again! Many dissatified staff and parents. The school lost its meaning of educated!!
i am a little upset with some of the events that happened this year. the ap physics trip was cancled which my son was looking foward too all year. from what i know the football team stinks and yet gets a majortiy of the money, while my son on track who went to nationals had to throw on a circle that should have been replaced years ago. in addition, he had to figth with jv and little league softball for time on the field. The band was underfunded while they were asked to play at most high school events.
Hen Hud gives many opertunities to all their students. Many different classes to choose from in the High School. Overall, a wide varried selection, but it is better for above average students. Hendrick Hudson High School believes in the arts and allows all students to take part in them often having many classes in art, music, and technology. They just renovated the whole basement, devoting it entirely to arts. The sport teams don't have the best record but they try hard. I think Hendrick Hudson is a wonderful school for my family.
there are a broad range of academic programs that are offered here, all are of well intent. However, many are just introduction programs. Music, art and sports are abundant and parental involvement is probably medium.
School is beginning to embrace a more inclusive approach to education. Beside the array of AP classes available, now 9th and 10th grade SPED kids work in a collaborative setting. Alternative Academy launched in 2004-2005. Loss of Principal was a big blow, but Superintendent's are progressive.
