SPPS is a school with a faculty that have high expectations of all the students. The good education and discipline given in this school help shape the children into responsible young men and women. The principal and the teachers are always ready and available to speak with every parent. This is not just a school, but also a close family. I am very glad my children attend this school.
Sts. Peter and Paul has a close knit, nurturing environment for your children. It has an excellent after school program that runs till 6PM where the students do their homework and have access to teachers and older students for help. My children have excellent homework habits because of this. The class sizes are small in the lower classes so the teachers have a chance to work with the students. I find the faculty and principal very accessible. Overall, I am pleased with the education my children are receiving.
My son is in his second year at SPPS, I believe it is a good school. Ms. Ryall (the principal) did have a screening process prior to his acceptance which I thought was great! I disagree with the other posts, children are children and I don't think these kids are being disruptive. I don't hear foul language, verbal abusiveness, blatant disrespect or any other such behavior that is rampant at other schools in Mt. Vernon. Yes, I believe there is room for improvement, and hopefully with the parents becoming a little more active in the HSA and coming together to find ways to help make these improvements, it would be a great school.
The school has fallen apart in the past 2 years. Teachers and principal alike seem to have lost their focus. Students in all classes are rowdy and disruptive. My daughter is not challenged or encouraged to do better than average work. Teachers and principal alike to not keep parents informed. What seemed to be a small intimate school has turned out to be a small school lacking funds that accepts everyone, including students who have been thrown out of other schools.
This school is very disappointing. The appeal for me was its size and the expectation that because it was so small, individual attention was going to be given to my child. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is no supervision, classrooms are rowdy, principal seems to have a real problem with discipline. I heard that last year someone keyed her car in the parking lot and yet the child was allowed to graduate. The school is sliding and I am glad that I moved my child out before it gets worse.
My Granddaughter is a student at SPPS...she loves the school.and is doing excellent in her studies...the teachers are great and always willing to help. I'm very happy that she's attending SPPS.
I am very happy with this school. My child has been in this school since pre-k The teachers are great! The principal is accomnodating to the parents. The early drop off and after school is very helpful for us working parents. The after school extras like ice skating and bowling is great for the kids. I can't say enough about the Home School Association, they are fantastic, with every thing they do for this school. I am very happy with this school.
I think this is a very good school. Ms Ryall (Princpal) has improved the school tremendously in the last two years. However the parents need to be more involved in the Home School Association. Also, certiain teachers need to consider retirement as their attitude towards the children leaves a lot to be desired. I feel my child is getting a very good education both religious and academic despite the few drawbacks.
This school is excellent! I went there for 8 years and it taught me to be the respectful, loving, caring person I am! I learned so much at SPPS and the teachers are excellent. Very good school!
