Honestly, Nanuet is a pretty good school. Right now I'm a sophmore(graduating 2010) and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the academic levels, esp. for such a small school. Most of the teachers are great, but a few are duds kept around because of seniority. The English department in particular is outstanding, but the general consensus is that the Math and Spanish departments are lacking, but still marginally above-average. Sometimes I also think Nanuet may be short-changing the Visual Arts department in order to better fund their giants- the band and the sports teams. Not to scare any prospective buyers in the district, but a pretty large portion of the student body drinks and smokes.

Great sports programs but there needs to be more leadership overall.

I went to this school and now my children go here. I must say the quality has dropped. After school help is hard to acquire as the teachers are busy with sports or live to far away. The music department is wonderful and has improved vastly over the years. I think leadership has faltered.
