This is a wonderful Middle School! The best in the Newburgh District. My daughter is in split honors and doing great! The teacher teams are a wonderful idea and they are very helpful and concerned about their students.

I went to this school when it first opened in 1996. I'm graduating college now, but of the 12 or so schools I've attended in my life, this was my favorite!

The school is a very nice school. It is very clean and sanitary and has many high test scores. HJH provides kids with the opportunites that they need to be succsesful in life. The guidance staff is very helpful and can switch classes if needed. Honors program can be sketchy at times but is very good none the less. A 7th grader has an option in being in a certain house upon entering. This is all worked out in the last year of elementary school when forms are submitted. There is 'Creative Art and Media', 'Law and Forensics', and 'Law and Government. Students chose a foreign lanuguge Spanish, Italian and French. The principal is 100 percent understanding of anything and can be very nice. all around good school.

This is my childs first year main streaming into a school. The principal has been 100% upfront, honest and willing to assist for the best of the child. They have had constant contact/updates for me and have successfully accomodated the childs needs. The staff/teachers have been great for the most part. I do think more effort must be spent on academic achievement for the child with special needs in order to maintain the same level of academic studies that would apply if in regular classes versus in 1:1 small class specialization. These small specialized classes are not given the same academic structure and choices of study because they cannot function in regular 30 student classrooms.

I was a student at HJH for my freshmen year. The teachers are very great. They teach you in a way that you will never forget it. I wish I was still there. I feel this school can give you the best education that you will ever receive in your entire life. When I get older I'm moving from Missouri to New York. Everyone there is splendid and once your there you make friends easily. Everyones nice even the principal. I miss you guys a lot. If you don't believe me try it for yourself the school is beautiful.

I am a first year student @ HJH, and I love it! I never thought I could like school so much. I have found many great teachers to attach myself to. The way the school is set up, it is easy to get in contact with teachers when a student, or parent needs help. I love the music programs that they offer.

My children returned from their first day with lists of supplies from each teacher. These are supplies that should be included with the high taxes and high salaries Newburgh pays. Included with these lists were signature slips, being used in a veiled attempt at parent blame. Many years ago the teachers complained that they weren't making enough and that if taxpayers would just throw more money at education, the test scores would magically rise and all world problems would disappear. Well, the salaries, taxes, and requirements (on the kids) have all risen, so why haven't the test scores? And why should I have to buy 'special' notebooks, binders and calculators.
