This school is absolutely fantastic--it's the one reason we're putting off a move to the suburbs. The community is wonderfully inclusive and welcoming, and Ms McEvoy the principal is truly a powerhouse. You get the sense that she can move mountains to make this school work. The curriculum is challenging, but my son's kindergarten teacher Ms. Ricciardi makes every activity fun. She rewards the kids with special treats (i.e. listening to a favorite son) and has a peppy and enthusiastic attitude. I feel that she knows the students well and uses many resourceful tools for capturing their attention. The kids have science, art and gym, and an outside music teacher has recently been added. Having taught at a private school, I really wrestled with the idea of public, believing that it would be overly rigid and joyless, focused entirely on test-taking. I was completely wrong and now couldn't be happier.

My son was traumatized by an expensive, snobby, cold and rigid private French School, Ecole International de New York, where he didn't learn anything. I took him out and enrolled him at PS 267 and he loved it. They were kind and warm and really helped him to fit in and learn how to read and write as well as do math. His kindergarten teacher, Ms. Catanzaro, is super and really motivated him. The principal, Ms. McEvoy is also friendly and forward-thinking. This school is much better than any private school.

Absolute top-notch. The primary focus is on education, with an impressive element of community involvement, social and emotional learning, art and physical education. They have it all. There is a lot of homework, but the proof is in the pudding: my son has learned a TON, and has enjoyed doing so. He is even learning chess as a part of his everyday activities. The principal is such a great mix of authority and tenderness and very obviously loves being an educational leader in the community in which she was raised. Teachers and staff are excptional. This school is such a gem!
