The teachers are great and kind, it's advanced, but not too hard, the perfect school, but hard to get into. this school should be 1st place in a list of the best schools of Manhattan. Great place.

ICE is a great school. All of the teachers are very loving to each and every single one of their students. Not a single student is left out. The principal is outstanding. Very loving, kind, sweet. gentle, and funny. Every morning he stands outside the school greeting students as they get to school. Being in ICE is being a part of a family. The classes are amazing. The staff offers after school tutoring for those who need it. Everyone feels welcome in ICE. ICE handles it's responsibilities very well. Everyone is equally treated and taken care of at ICE.

Unfortunately, the 6th grade teachers, in particular the humanities and math teachers are lacking. The kids love them, but can they teach?

Absolutely top notch teachers and curriculum. The school itself (on the top two floors of the old Stuyvesant High School) is a bit "dog-eared" and could use some sprucing up. The class assignments (most often collaborative projects, hence the name) are consistently sophisticated and challenging. The school is not interested in standardized testing and to its credit does not "teach to the test." They teach students to think, not to memorize and regurgitate.

Top class teachers and working environment for kids. No teaching to the test, the children learn what they need to not what looks good on standardized tests.

This is a school that teaches kids HOW to think, not WHAT to think.

The school has an impressive curriculum, great teachers and an awesome principal but the best thing about it is: they teach our children to take on a difficult assignment and complete it- ON THEIR OWN.

Posted October 8, 2010

The combination of bright, dedicated teachers, a caring principal (all of whom go above and beyond their call of duty) as well as small class sizes make for a great learning environment.

Friendly-warm setting, teachers are great, school is different from other schools- they use different techniques to teach students in a way that is more interesting to them

Posted October 5, 2010

small class sizes, project-based assessments instead of tests, strong community -- great school.

ICE gives students responsibility for their learning. Students complete meaningful homework that challenges their thinking.

I love ICE because the teachers are so dedicated. Teachers at ICE truly want their children to succeed and are there first thing in morning and stay way after the day ends. Communication between parents and teachers are helpful and prompt. John Pettinato, the principal, is wonderful and reachable. He loves his school and it shows in all ways.

There is always someone there to listen to you. Teachers are very dedicated. More focus on the student and helping them rather then the test scores and making your school get more money.

The school encourages students to participate in their education and develop initiative and independent thinking; especially encouraging girls. Excellent teachers, inviting parents involvement.
