Great concept, dedicated teacher, collaborative learning, successesful students
There is always someone there to listen to you. Teachers are very dedicated. More focus on the student and helping them rather then the test scores and making your school get more money.
The school encourages students to participate in their education and develop initiative and independent thinking; especially encouraging girls. Excellent teachers, inviting parents involvement.
It is a great school where my son learns within an an environment that encourages him to think independently.
I love this school because they love our kids. The teaching is innovative and creative and the students learn to read and write critically.
It is a small personal school where all the teachers and administrators know my children. My children love going to school and that is half the battle.
A wonderfully warm environment that is both rigorous and nurturing, where students are treated as individuals and held to high standards through the support of wonderful teachers and administration. The principal is passionate and dedicated!
It's the sense of community, the rigor of the curriculum and the smile it puts on our daughter's face every day!
I cant imagine why any family would not want to have their children attend ICE. The school is phenomenal in every way. Classes are small. Children get individual attention. The teachers do everything possible to encourage learning. The students feel comfortable confiding in the teachers, many of whom become mentors. The school tries to accommodate different learning sensibilities. Children feel safe and respected. There is a strong sense of community. The nature of the academics is about learning and investigation - not memorization. The education is not static. This place is extraordinary!
This is an extraordinary place. Students are engaged and feel empowered. The academics are rigorous and the school has a wonderful sense of community.
ICE is a unique 6th - 12th grade public school. It is a diverse community of caring educators and motivated students. Small class sizes, dedicated teachers collaborate so that there is a common thread that ties math to science to humanities to spanish, etc. Students are safe and free to express themselves. I have seen my daughter blossom from a shy, quiet 6th grader to a confident young lady able to debate a topic in front of the student body.
ICE is a dynamic public school that encourages varied approaches to learning and celebrates the individual student without bias.
dedicated teachers and administration, some of which have literally dedicated their lives to helping NYC youth break the mold.
ICE fosters student's independent thought and creativity in a spirited learning environment. Children have the opportunity to express themselves and are appreciated for their unique personalities and ideas.
Alternative education for New York City kids that teach them how to think for themselves.
Students, staff and parents ALL work together to make this an exciting and productive educational community. Students challenge and support each other, teachers help students beyond regular school hours and many parents are actively involved in the curriculum, either in the form of Advisories, which link the teaching staff with the rest of the parent community or through aiding the teachers in assessment. There is great trust and understanding of the progressive philosophy maintained this school, which provides a world-ready education, far above the yardstick of standardized testing.
ICE provides an excellent education to a diverse group of kids from all parts of this city- The teachers, staff, parents and students truly work together to help see to it that these kids receive an excellent education and they all leave ICE ready and able to make wise choices in the very callenging environment that they face when they graduate. ICE turns out serious thinkers, great writers, incredible public speakers- This school as truly figured out what a modern, urban public school should look ,and how to get the very best out of the entire shcool community for the good of the kids. A really wonderful place.
I have 2 children in this school, 6th and 9th grade. More than being just about educating, ICE is truly about learning. As children take an active part in the process, they become enthusiastic and passionate about learning and the pursuit of knowledge.
It is a school that has to potential to prepare our students for a productive future living in America.
