I transfered my son from a public school to St. Brigid...I am beyond happy when it comes down to my child's current education, he has changed completely, his academic and behavior has improved so much. I give St. Brigid thumbs up for their hard work and keeping the parents involved in their education. No complaints what so ever, the school is clean, everyone is very professional and I cannot wait to until my youngest child attends school. Thank You St. Brigid Staff
My son has been in this school since 1st grade, he is now in 3rd grade. He has excel in is academics. The teachers are all wonderful and the principal is the icing on the cake. The principal has made this school what it is today. What is also important is that the kid s math and reading scores are improving every year. My son loves it here, he looks forward to coming to school, and he gets first and second honors. That makes me happy, because I know I made the right choice. Give St. Brigid a chance; you will be happy you did.
I moved up the block from this school last year, and as I passed by I would see a lady (not happy) standing by the door . I needed to find a school for my son, so I figured catholic school is much advanced than public school. I asked several people in the area even people that stood outside waiting for their kids. The response I received was not positive. I was told about Earth School which is a block away. I checked the reviews, my message to all parents is - IF a Public School has a better track record & better ratings than a Private School there is something wrong.
My grandchild attends this school. i pick up and drop office. i must say this school should be religious and practice what they teach. The teachers roam in packs. If you bring up a issue or question a teacher she will take it out on your child. On the door is has a poster that says" Warmth, Friendly, care about children". That is not true!! The principal is not approachable, doesn't listen when a parent talks to her. The principle talks AT YOU when she should talk to you. If you care for you childs education and well being. DO NOT SEND THEM TO THIS SCHOOL.
this school has got to be a one of the worse catholic schools in the lower east side my daughter attended this year and its going to be her last i pretty much agree w/parents below stereotype is right i assume you are of a dark color skin? i felt the same way :( this catholic schools have no extra programs 2 offer kids who need the extra help. the classes are very very small. the teachers are not willing to give your kids any extra attention. i felt this whole year my husband and i went to school my daughter came home w/tons of home work not really knowing what she learn or wasn't explain correctly. this will be my last year at st.Brigid. i will not recommend or pass the word i give the school two thumbs down and no stars i really wish i would have read reviews b4 i applied good luck i hope this helped.
GET READY TO BE JUDGED WHEN BRINGING IN THE APPLICATION BECAUSE THEY DO JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER" AS I FELT VERY UNCOMFORTABLE WHILE SPEAKING TO H.K THE INTAKE LADY I AM GIVING THIS SCHOOL 1 STAR ONLY BECAUSE OF THE CLEANNESS OF THE SCHOOL STAFF IS HORRIBLE NOT knowledgeable VERY egotistic THEY HAVE NO CLUE OF WHAT THERE ACTUAL JOB TITLE MEANS AND HOW TO HANDLE IT THEY ALL PRETTY MUCH WORK FOR THE DOLLARS ON THEIR PAY CHECK TO MUCH OF A YOUNG WORKING STAFF THEY DO NOT TAKE THERE JOB OR KIDS EDUCATION AS SERIOUS AS PARENTS BUT YOUR MONEY IS A SERIOUS MATTER AND SO I HEAR TEACHER ARE THE SAME IF YOUR GOING TO PAY FOR YOUR CHILD'S EDUCATION PARENTS PLEASE I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU SEEK ANOTHER CATHOLIC SCHOOL YOU WILL NOT BE VERY PLEASED WITH CHILD PROGRESS. GOOD LUCK MOM & DADS :)
I honestly regret transfering my child into this school...love the programs offered and the Sr. Teachers who are awesome but the young teachers lack the experience capability that is needed to properly instruct our kids in a productive manner without ripping their spirit and cutting them down when they are in need. When you see a very bright student all of a sudden lacking the ability to learn because they are being ridicule than administration to take a harder look at these instructor. I already see the next grade teacher is not much different from the current grade (3rd) and will not endure another year of this as now due to being outspoken of what was going my child has now been the subject of lack of care from some of the other staff members of this school....this will be my last year at st.Brigid.
I know what the previous review means....i too have been conflicted with serious doubts and will not be considering removing my child at the end of the school year. I love the music programs he art teacher and secretary of the school, but will say my disappointment with administration and the inability to productively guide the young teachers of the school and turn the other way when this group of teachers (which happen to be friends) lack the maturity level to properly guide students w/o crushing their spirits. I have in previous months noticed that when it comes to my child (and can't help to feel because she is mine and I have voice my opinion on certain things we have endured) is now lacking the care and concerned that was once given to her when a tough situation was present and how they always managed to make it work for her, almost as if they were using her to get to me. In the long run its the child they hurt which shows me this is not the school for us.
my son attends this school and i am not happy with the archidioses of new york due to the fact that if your child needs extra help the catholic schools have no extra programs to offer kids who need the extra help. the classes are very small however the teachers are not willing to give your kids any extra attention. most teachers in this school are young and lack the experience necessarry to teach. its not about quantity its quality education that counts. they will give your kids tons of homework ,basically making you the teacher at home. forget about the prior reccommendation to send your kid to our lady of sorrow that school has many issues and they have threatened to close 3 times. they cant even keep a principal. i reccommend send your kids to a public school education, and just take your kid to church on sundays.
i totally diagree this school has done alot for these children the teachers keep you inform about the academics and how to help your child and the 8th grade teacher works really hard to get the kids into the best high school in nyc i love st.brigid keep up the good work ms.vincent
