Both of our children entered OLP in 2008 and left in 2011 when we moved from New York. We travelled each school day all the way from White Plains and it was worth it for the Catholic atmosphere and great indvividual care each child received in class. It was 3 excellent academic years for our children who continue to excell in the schools they now attend. Keep up the good work!
We are very satisfied with the academics and Catholic formation. The neighborhood is an integral part of the school experience.
Our Lady of Pompeii is catholic school that has been around for 80 years. It has a strong focus on academics but also emphasizes art, music and physical education. Childern from Pre K 3- 8th grade work together as a community. It is so wonderful to see 8th graders reading to the little ones. The school just celebrated its 80th anniversary.
I attended Our Lady of Pompeii in the 1950's and it was an excellent school back then. I attended from pre-K through 8th grade and it was a wonderful experience. The nuns were great and the lay teachers could not have been better. I am happy to hear they are keeping up the incredible work of their predecessors. Thanks.
I' am so happy, and so is my son. He's learning things that are not being taught at public schools. What my son is learning and what he's been taught so far can't conpare to whats being taught at public school. I have an older son that went to P.S.234 and was not being taught the curriculum that is taught at Our Lady Of Pompeii. The teachers are good, the sisters are excellent, but most of all it's the principal that makes the school what it is.
In addition to being christian based, Our lady of Pompeii is family oriented with a warm and friendly atmosphere.Parents ,students and teachers know each other on a personallevel and the surrounding is condusive to learning.
My son is in Kindergarten at OLP and has been a student there since Prek3. He is so happy there and the teachers and curriculum are wonderful! I would recommend this school to any parent.
Great school! Great Teachers! The school teaches academics but also teaches the children to be good people with morals.
I can't think of a better school for my son. The school has the perfect combination of academics, social skills development, discipline, encouragement, and nurturing. I am re-learning quite a lot through my son. I would recommend this school to any parent looking for the most well-rounded curriculum in the city.
Our Lady of Pompeii School teaches more than just academics, it also teaches community and caring. The students all care for each other and look out for one another. Pompeii does have a great academic program and offers advance classes but it is the compassion for others that it teaches that I think is its strong point.
Our Lady of Pompeii is a great family oriented school. Excellent teachers, staff, and students. School has alot to offer: academics, scholarships, talent and more. Would not dream of changing schools.
My son Anthony has been at OLP for 4 years. The best thing that I did for my son was taking him from public school , (which lasted only for 1 week)and enrolling him at Our Lady Of Pompeii. Ilove the traditional way of teaching, and I also like the fact that they are taught about god, something this country is trying to forget about. This is one of the better Catholic Schools around.
This by far the best school in the world when i left this school it was like a part of me gone. I reccomend this school to anyone it is by far heaven on earth
The lower school is excellent; however, it is the middle school that is the problem. While the teaching quality is more than satisfactory, the teachers are prone to overreacting and taking out bad days on students. The school does little or no disciplinary action to troublesome students. The computer lab is pathetic and a language and more extracurricular activities are needed.
I opted to put my child at OLP in the hopes that she would receive quality education. We are not satisfied with OLP because thorough academic preparation needs reconsideration and improvement. The children must carry 20 lbs. of text books up and down the stairs, there's limited time to learn lessons before tests/quizzes are given out. The progress reports may sound very helpful, however they are overwhelming and confusing to the children as well as most parents. Measures should be taken up with children who are trouble makers, instead of punishing the group or class as a whole. OLP has become more of a disappointment than in recent years. Education starts in the home, but needs to be nurtured in school. I believe our children deserve better.
OLP willoffer your child a basic, sound, parochial education. You do not have a foerign language department and their computer lab is lacking.
