I worry about the turn over of teachers in the high school. The Bio teacher leaves after only 1 year. I wonder if they are hiding their lack of academic strength behind the "hands-on" varnish.

An education at Trevor is unlike an education at any other school. Where other schools might focus on memorization to score highly on a Standardized Test, Trevor teaches real-world application and skills. For example, the school has scrapped the AP Biology course and replaced it with an Advanced Biology course taught by a former University of Chicago researcher. The class involves college-level analysis of DNA and genetics as opposed to the more conventional subjects taught in AP Bio. While this may not necessarily help when it comes to tests, the experience gained surely outweighs the benefits of scoring highly. Something else to note about Trevor is that the students are expected to motivate themselves and take their work seriously without too much help from the faculty. This is great for diligent students, but some students can feel left behind and others do not take their work seriously. If Trevor is taken seriously and its academics are used to their full potential, the school can be a great place for learning and provides for an outstanding transition into college life.

Trevor Day School can be considered a mixed bag, because it isn't traditional and some of the teachers have odd approaches. However, I think that the teaching style allows students to be prepared for the real world. Trevor isn't caught up in college, college, college, but how students can apply high school to their life. The spiral science curriculum is what has taught me my time management skills. A lot of the work given are long-term projects that are interesting and apply to the real world and time-consuming enough that one has to stay on top of their science work! English program is phenomenal, especially if you want a heavily discussion-based class. Art programs I personally know are good: Theatre, Dance, and Photography. My math class has been my most traditional class and in my opinion also well organized/taught. Although some of the teachers are iffy, in the past few years a couple new, really amazing teachers have come in and are helping the school meet its full potential. I think it will be interesting to see how Trevor grows when it moves to its bigger campus. Last note: Trevor is a school for independent, highly-motivated students that plan on pursuing extracurriculars.

I have been at Trevor since kindergarten, and I find that it is a great school. Certain courses are challenging and really help you prepare for higher levels of learning. The arts program is nice; there are many different options. I've excelled as a student at Trevor and the environment is perfect for many children like me. While the kids can be cliquey every once in a while, there is really nothing you can do to avoid that and it is not prominent. Overall, I enjoy attending Trevor Day School!

My son has been a student at Trevor since 4th grade. The school is lovely, they have the latest of everything, a great cafeteria, a strong PTA, a large fund and the location is convenient. Lower school was good, Middle school a disaster (terrible dean who used to be a gym teacher) and High School is average. As most school, some teachers are excellent and others are not interested in the students. Sadly, my son had more of the later. He was not engaged, encouraged or made to feel a part of the Dwight community. He was lucky to have two amazing french teachers who went above and beyond to support him. The college counselors are by far the worst. It's been a very frustrating time on multiple levels. If your child is a self starter and works well independently this may be a good fit. If you have an extremely bright child that needs direction and encouragement this is not the right school.

Trevor is a mixed bag at times. The middle school experience for us was the strongest. Things like mini-term, diverse art and music offerings and the hands-on attention from teachers and advisers made it work for us. We've always found the kids and administration tolerant of differences and very down-to-earth. The high-school program is less successful for us. The integrated science curriculum (3 major subjects presented simultaneously) is a disaster. Elective offerings in History and English are uninspired. And the much-vaunted art classes were completely mishandled. That being said, my child loves the school and would not consider leaving. We're now applying to colleges and keeping our fingers crossed. It can be a great school for the quirky, highly-motivated student.

Our son is now in his 2nd year at Trevor Day (he's in 1st grade). We have watched our little boy flourish before our very eyes. Imagine a school where the administration, head of school, and teachers all care about creating a great human being in your child as much as you do. I don't know how they are able to give the kids as much individual attention to their unique learning needs, but they accomplish the task beautifully. Our son is free to be himself, yet is challenged at the appropriate level. The administration, head of school, and teachers have all unanimously been receptive to any help or questions that we have had regarding the school. I have no idea how anyone could have trouble at such a nurturing environment.

The school is fun to attend! the teachers are helpful and you learn in an environment that helps you feel comfortable. We also use computers in almost every academic. The arts are wonderful. I take stained glass and dance. My favorite part of the year is miniterm. This is an opportunity for students in the middle school to take courses they would not usually take. You also choose one specific area to focus on during these 18 days. This could be doing the play, costumes for it, chess, rubicks cube, stock market stimulator and more. Last year i took CPR, persian tiles, knit whits, and geo-chaching. You also have academics and humanities. The only bad part is that the kids can be very cliquey and the teachers choose favorites. Overall it is a good school providing strong arts and academics.
