Great school and my child has made a difference. I'm so happy that this is the first school who work with the parents closely on their child progress. As for the PTA they always welcome the parent and they facilitate the helpful information also. As a parent I participate instead of complaining. A parent is the voice of your child. I highly recommend this school.

First off i must say my children went and still go to this school because it is a convenience, at one point this was a perfect school but it is going down hill starting with the office staff they need to be trained all they do is yell at the kids it's disturbing they talk like they come straight from the street they are not educated at all. As for the PTA if there weren't so many restrictions then parents would get involved, and the Principal i really dont know how to pin point him he plays both sides he acts like he is out to help a parent then goes behind their backs, he hires teachers who are not friendly orientated and blames the parent for not understanding their ways. If it werent for my child almost graduating and being so familiar with everyone i would take my child out !

The teachers are all excellent. They are genuinely concerned for their students. The PTA continues to struggle with parent participation, although it has gotten better over the years. I think that the lack of parental involvement continues to be a challenge and a barrier to student progress. The PTA has tried to engage more parents through various activities. However, participation is still lacking. There are a number of parents who complain a lot about the school administration but don't participate in the PTA or SLT to make things better.

This school COULD be great with the proper leadership. It USED to have a wonderful reputation and increasing progress. Since the current administration has taken over it is a downhill journey. The principal's agenda is focused on pettiness and attacking staff. He knows very little about how to actually educate students. It is sad. The teachers that work there don't even send their own kids to this school. What does that tell you?

This school is fortunate to have such good teacher. The administration needs to step up and make the office staff accountable for being more professional towards parents and students. He needs to welcome parents as volunteers. And he is not very good with follow thru when he is approached with concerns. This is a neighborhood school it is sad to see that in our neighborhood so many of our schools have low grades. I hope Mr Housan can bring this school up. I gave it 3 stars average because of its teaching staff...

THE END RESULT... It was officially posted that P.S. 64 Robert E. Simon (064) received a Progress Report Leter Grade of C. the Administrators are quick to blame the system and the formula the DOE uses. But like i said in the past, present and future..you made it your mission to exclude parents from being involved in the school. The staff is constantly chasing parents out of the school as to welcoming them. Perhaps this was your, "WAKE UP CALL"!!

All o my children attended this small but family oriented community school. The staff and teachers really care about all the students. Parents are also familar with students.

I am crazy about this school. I had my son transferred there last year, and couldn't be happier. The staff treats each other like family, Principal Hosang and Assistant Principal D'Arcangelo have an enormous amount of respect for their staff, parents and students, many services are made available to the children who need that extra help, AND the teachers are just awesome!! This is what school should be about. Thank you...

Three of my children have attended this school. I have one still attending and would not it any other way. This is a great, fun environment for children. The principal is a strong character and the children like him very much. We achnowledge our students achievements and strive for them to continue for their future.

This school is excellent. I attended this school when I was a child back in 1991 and compared to the way it is now, it has changed dramatically. The principal is very caring and personal. He takes the time to get to familiarize himself with the children and the parents. The teachers are wonderful, caring, attentive and they keep communication consistent throughout the year. I will recommend this school to anyone. It is a very family oriented enviornment. The Educational Alliance program has unfortunately had some budget cuts this year so they were unable to accept as many students as they normally do. Ms.R who runs the program is an excellent Director. She really cares aboutt he children.

I think is school is great, The principal is very helpful and he is very much, involved in all school activities. The PTA are trying their best to make things happen for this school, but the Educational Alliance program is not fair to all students.

My son attended this school and I can truly say the reading and language program is exceptional and well beyond the standards I expected for a public school. As a new immigrant I was impressed by the core reading program and saw my son's reading level improve by two levels in one school year. The parent coordinator is accommodating and accessible. The principal and assistant principal are both warm and eager to meet and discuss concerns with parents. The overall discipline was good but not unusual for the community. The open door policy allows you to visit your child s classroom and really observe what is happening. The after school program is equally laudable because it is well managed and provides homework help which is really great for working parents who get in late. My only disappointment was with the classroom teachers.

P.S. 64 provide a nurturing and caring environment. The teachers have open communication with the students and parents. P.S.64 has resources not easily found in other schools, and our principal is very dedicated to the school population. I don t know of any other school where the principal learns the name of all 350 students.

P.S. 64 places an emphasis and has improved dramatically over the past several years. Educators are highly dedicated and professional and students perform well on tests and assessments. Students participate in an afterschool program, art, gym, ballroom dancing, karate, and put on numerous shows each year.
