The school is very warm and supportive. Student body is very small, so teachers know almost every kid's name. It is very LGBTQ supportive, and gay-bashing is strictly forbidden. If you need protection from homo/transphobic students/faculty/administrators, this is the place. However, if you are a high-achieving student with honors/AP credits, you might not enjoy this school. Teachers are very skilled, but the school does not have enough teachers to serve those classes. Regular classes with kids way behind of works (and does not know how to conduct in classroom), that's what you are going to face. And they only offer basic, basic classes, so you do not have various choices. I'm not blaming students, since I understand how it is hard to keep up academically when bullied, but most students do not know how to behave in classes. You will get straight A's with spending only 10 or less minutes for hwk. Just to sum up, HMHS is a very safe school especially to LGBTQ. They are very sensitive to bullying issue, include teachers and principal. Academic life may be very depressing, but the school started a huge transition, so we will see what happens.
