I don't understand why they are not posting their regents results. Are the results so bad that they don't want us to see? All i got somewhere on the web was that 87% of sophomore passed regents global history and geometry. What about living environment, chemistry, english, and other courses. Being that they like boasting about how many of their students passed selective courses, i am sure that they would have post all their regents results if they were good.

Yes, this is very good school. The teachers and the principal care very much about the students. when my child started fifth grade in this school, she was way behind and within the next year, she was just fine. She had a lot of extra tutoring. Now she just graduated and we have decided to take her to a private school to continue. I wanted her to go to the high school but I was not provided with any information. The eight graders visited the school before graduation and that was it. I spoke to another parent who had the same problem, another one said she called and left them a message but they never return her call. I wonder what is going on with the high school. maybe they are not as aggressive as the middle sch. I wish they will call us and tell us more about the sch.

My daughter has attended this school since the 5th grade. She is now in the High School division and I have to say the emphasis on education and creating a well rounded individual is of the upmost important to the school. The teachers are fabulous and care about their student's success. The teachers also develop good relationships with their students and functioon as mentors as well. The curriculum is challenging but not impossible. Overall the grades prove what they are doing at the school.

This is my daughter's first year and we both love the school and the staff. I feel as is the school, is getting the children ready for the corporate world by wanting their uniforms a certain way and not accepting attitude from the children who attend the school. The entire staff is understanding to both the parents and students needs and concerns. Saturday school is provided for the students who are falling behind in math and reading at both the teachers and parents request. Leaving the catholic school system for HVA was the best educational decicion I made for my child.

My son went to the school for two and a half years and I am utterly disgusted with not only their ever changing staff but also the way that they treat both the parents and students. This school according to their rating is supposed to be so focused on education and in my experience they seem to act as though they are more based upon what is supposed to be behavior but usually is pettiness. They run the school like a military school and seem to put too much emphasis on the small stuff. I find it quite humorous that a school that is doing so 'great' doesn't have more feedback from the parents. The reason is because most of the parents are displeased with this highly unorganized and a new rule everyday school . I recently withdrew my son from there and it is the best decision I ever made

In a society obsessed with school testing, one public school in New York City has achieved the perfect score. One hundred percent every single student of the eighth grade at Harlem Village Academy passed the state's math test. What's the key to the school's success? It's not a selection process: Students are admitted to the charter school by lottery, not any sort of screening. It's not small class size: There can be 28 or more students in a class. Deborah Kenny, founder of Harlem Village Academies, says that with all the dire warnings about failing schools, officials try to analyze exactly what successful schools like hers do and then require all other schools to do the same. 'It's a completely incorrect way to transform education,' she says. Teaching shouldn't be compliance-driven, she says. 'Education is all about the person standing at the front of the room.'
