My son was at a small charter school for the first five years of elementary, and though we loved the school, he was frequently bored, which is disastrous for a bright kid. We were concerned with him fitting in to a small tight-knit class for fifth grade, but he was welcomed with open arms by the other students, and he has re-found his joy for learning. His writing has improved ten-fold, and he is constantly being encouraged to create and stretch. At the beginning of the year he still felt math was not challenging enough, but they have since split off a group of the kids to do more advanced work.
If you are looking for a traditional school with loads of homework, this is not the school for you. But, if you are looking for a school which encourages kids to create and think outside of the box, while instilling in them a joy for learning through a progressive integrated curriculum, then look no further.
