The students and staff were extremely receptive of my being an ATR. Before the end of the first day, students were greeting me in the hallway, opening doors for me and assisting me in speaking Spanish and French. Students are on a first name basis with everyone. I was one of the chaperones on a walking trip to Central Park. A chaperone was assigned to the front, middle and back...an excellent idea. The earth science teacher commented on the excellence of the students. I, of course, enjoyed the diversity. One day during the last period class, all students were present in its entirety. How many schools can say that? And, they lingered after dismissal checking their work and discussing the subject. Try not to arrive between 8:15 and 8:45 on the #6 train, as you will be squashed and will face a long line of people trying to exit the station. Students take the English regents only, I believe.
