in a city with so many issues, including cutbacks at every level, we have been pleasantly surprised at the level of attention and education given at this school. The dual language program is one that you usually see at private schools. The teachers here are very involved and have been very creative and know how to have fun with our child. Respect and discipline are managed very well. The downside is that it's on a very busy road with poor signage and lack of street lights and/or police to help slow down the traffic. Parent involvement can be improved through more outreach community based programs.

I think the Dual Language program at this school is great! my daughter has learned how to read and write in both English and Spanish. THe teachers are always happy and enthusiastic. It is a small school, so all the teachers seem to know most of the kids and whose class they are in. The PTA does a lot of activities and fund raisers and the classrooms have smart boards and laptop carts. At first there were some administrative issues, I think because the principal was new, but it has been in place for a few years now and I think it is going well. My only concern was with the amount of homework she was getting, but it seems that has been resolved.
