I was a student at Balmville Elementary starting at the 2nd grade. My family had moved from Wallingford, CT and found the school to be a great place to grow up. I can still remember many of my teachers and how they had an impact on my development from a child into a young adult. Mr. Rap (short for Rapalje) was by far one of the most caring teachers anyone could ever have. Mr. Muruski was my 6th grade teacher and although he was tough, he was fair. I liked the small classes, it made for great intreaction with others. I don't think at any time there was more than 20 students in any home room class. The area of Newburgh/Balmville has changed drastically with the loss of Stewart Air Force Base many years ago. Hopefully the school has remained close to its roots seated in student development.

Wonderful school with strong academic program. Both my children have made wonderful progress as students at Balmville. I believe that the small learning environment and dedicated teaching staff contributes to my children's academic achievment.

Balmville has been a great learning environment for my 2nd grade son & kindergarten daughter. With the recent addition & expanded offerings a good school has become great. Because of its smaller size & depth of teacher experience the School has an intimacy & cohesiveness not found elsewhere. Balmville steers its own course and does so with many activities involving the entire school. My children are known by students of all grade levels, teachers, and administration. The result is my children run to school, eager to begin the day. Both are reading at a level far above every measure of the grade standard. This ability, ne', this love of reading is something my son's first grade teacher focused on intensely because she felt it was important. That spirit of independent thinking, with the goal of educating each child uniquely is what Balmville does best. We couldn't be happier with our choice.

This school is an excellent school because the teachers and staff really care about the students. And now with the new addition with (making it 3 classes per grade) it will be even better since the size of the classes will be smaller. My daughter and most of my nieces and nephews attend or attended this school and they all love it there.

This is a very small school with a lot of pros and cons. Because it is a small school it doesn't offer many after school activities like a lot of other schools do. Since it is a small school the principal seems to know most of the children personally.
