This school has teachers that care and work hard to ensure equal learning for all. The principal has always addressed concerns quickly and resolved problems immediately. The students are constantly reminded of their manners and actions towards others. The schools location allows the children to have more walking tours than other elementary schools. This is a great school for any child.

Totally disappointed in this school's lack of involvement when it comes to bullying issues. It seems as if they believe that if an adult doesn't actually see or hear an interaction between students, it didn't happen or shouldn't be taken seriously. Also, disappointed in the school's lack of concern, involvement, action or resolve for a student who had previously excelled in past years, but this year, is suddenly receiving failing grades and has become withdrawn.

My child is in the accelerated program and I am very pleased. I am amazed at how much she is learning. If your child can test in, you will not be disappointed. The staff at Horizons is great too. They run a very tight ship.

I love the staff at HOH. They are so great. I like the way it is run, there is a lot of respect between teachers and the students. My daughter is so happy to be a part of the Horizon's Magnet School. I would like to thank all of the staff for being there to help our children take on new challenges.

This schools excelerated program is amazing. The children not only follow an advanced curriculum but also learn in a polite and respectful atmosphere.

The school is located next to a public housing project (HUD) along with the lowest income neighborhoods in Newburgh. The faciliteis and teachers are fine but the average child in this school does not learn what is needed to succeed. The one thing that needs to be mentioned is that they established a 'school-within-a-school' last year which is labeled the 'gifted-and-talented' program. If a child can make it into this program (they test), they will be in class with other children who are highly motivated. My child was a part of this program last year and it was very good from an academic standpoint. (Lots of homework!) If your child is not in the gifted-and-talented program, I don't recommend this school.

I think that Horizon on the Hudson is a very good school my daughter has been enjoying herself and learning a great deal this year - as a new comer to the school as of October 2005 she has been excelling in her studies.
