This is a great school. Most of the teachers are quite good. The principal, Suzanne Gray, is diligent, devoted, smart, creative, and compassionate. She cares about each child in the school. The PTA is active and effective.
Terrific school. Principal of 21 years is retiring. High quality (well paid!) teachers and staff. School building could use a bit of updating (built in the 1950s). Everyone is super supportive of the student body. My one gripe (albeit with the school system/superintendent) is that this 1st through 4th school really should be K-5, K-6, 1-5 or 1-6.
Facilities are excellent for an elementary school.
My daughter is starting 2nd grade in the fall. So far my wife and I are pleased with the education she is getting at Old Bethpage.
I love this school and the amazing staff. The kindness begins at the main office. The principal runs a tight ship and only hires the most competent teachers to work for her. Although the school is growing, I am sure any additional teachers hired will rise to the level required by the principal. I have one child on her way out of this school and another just finishing second grade. I continue to be amazed by everyone working in the building. O.K. the janitor, parking guru could be a lot nicer. Everyone else from teachers, aides, resource room teachers, special teachers, nurse, school psychologist, lunch ladies are just fabulous.
This was the worst education experience my oldest child could have had. I pay $10,000 in taxes and I still have to send my children to private school to get a basic reading and math skills. Never mind touting that you teach Chinese to kindergaten, worry about English skills. Has anyone looked at the scores on the 8th Grade Standardized English Tests?
A wonderful school with terrific teachers! This school has a warm, loving environment in which children learn.
