Orchard Park Middle School

My dd is currently in 7th grade at OPMS. in 6th gr, the SS teacher made social studies fun and interesting. they continuously had a project to work on her projects are very challenging and fun.Science teacher was excellent but he was a hard grader. ELA teacher was great too and they had monthly letters to write and always had other writing projects. the math teacher was great too but i guess the whole math curriculum is easy in 6th grade. the music department is fantastic and top notch. now that she's in 7th grade she also has fantastic teachers too. her SS teacher is great and i think she's preparing them v. well for highschool and college. they constantly have projects and papers, and she has high expectations. the science teacher is great and very hands-on. i've seen kids who hated science that enjoy her class now. the ELA teacher is phenomenal and gives lots of writing assignments. they have at least one writing assignment a week. math teacher is good but the curriculum is not challenging. i am hoping she will be in advanced math in 8th grade.Extracurricular activites/clubs & sports abound that every student is sure to find smthg interesting.Math curriculum should be improved.

We moved here from North Carolina about a year ago. I am so impressed with this school. I have never seen such a fantastic music program. There is a choir for each grade level, speciality choirs, a 6th grade orchestra, a 7th & 8th grade orchestra, a band, fiddle group, a jazz ensemble, etc. Along with this the school has an extrodinary acedemic program. I know that my daughter is getting a well rounded education at this school.
