My daughter is thriving in this school. Her two years here have led her to recieve the highest possible scores on the NYS tests. She has become a believer in her own abilities. I love the enrichment programs created to excite and challenge students and the math challenge program they offer for high-performing kids. In addition to having had great teachers, she has made some wonderul friends that will no doubt last her a lifetime.
We pulled our child out of this school--safety was a big concern. Kids fighting was an all too often occurance. Lunchtime was crazy, at recess there was nothing to do, disruptive kids within the classrm a huge issue. Our experience was extremely disappointing after having such wonderful experiences at Park & Brookside.
I am a parent of a child in Claremont school. . For the most part, the classes are fine . However, they do need to rethink the dismissal procedure, the lunchtime procedure, and the general atmosphere of the building. It needs to be a bit more disciplined in those areas. I also feel that the principal has poor leadership skills. They also need to not put all the problem kids into one class.
My daughter is having a great time with her class. They are a well balanced class and all help each other. There is really nothing to do at recess, but hasn't had any problems. The principal believes he wants the children to be 'independent', but I do believe there should be some discipline especially during dismissal, they are still too young.
My daughter has had a very difficult time with her class. The other sutudents in her classroom are disruptive and disrespectful. Even the teacher and other teachers have labeld her class as the 'problem' class. This has been so unfair to her experience. Also, the cafeteria is overcrowded and the scheduling doesn't work! The principle doesn't seem to be of much help either!
Claremont School is a great school. My children loved going to this school. The principal lacks some leadership skills.
