I volunteer to do lunches and no hot lunches are served. Pizza is on Wed and Fri but that is not really all that hot, temperature-wise. Other days are salad and wrap sandwiches. I had had problems sometimes getting through to the office often but I am at the school a lot. Kids with allergies do sit at separate areas and have to bring their own snack in. I liked the former principle and found her easy to talk to and very positive. Many things she started are continuing, which I am happy about, The new principle is not certified to be a principle but in Catholic schools that is not a requirement. He is certified in health and his gym certification expires soon. A very nice man but I find him not strong. It is different this year but I do not have much more time left there. They need a new nurse. One left this year and the older one is, according to my child, very mean. He hates being sick in school. The school is ok, does not offer as much as other schools.

My child is in a class with a severe allergy student. It is not an allergy-free school, but as I understand each case is discussed with the child's teacher, nurse, principal and family and precautionary measures are taken on a case by case basis, as there is no cafeteria and the students eat in in their classrooms. As far as the phones, I have two children there for the past few years and have generally been able to get through the phone when I call, with the exception of certain times of day when the secretary is out, such as morning/afternoon buses and distribution of hot lunches. On the off occasion that she wasn't there to answer, I either left a message and received a call back or pressed option #2 and spoke to the nurse as opposed to the main office. I have been happy with the environment and the educational opportunities that the school has provided for my children and am extremely happy with the change in administration this year. The new principal is very approachable and takes careful consideration of all matters brought to his attention. He is attentive to the students and teachers' needs alike and the overall atmosphere seems to have taken a very positive turn.

I am (WAS) a potential parent who agrees with the previous post that it very hard to reach this school. I have heard this year they do not like special needs kids and kids with allergies. My son has allergies and needs an epi pen close. Critz has no problem with allergies. With not getting an answer every time I call, it makes me uneasy to leave my child there. I will not consider transferring now.I also cannot find any state test scores anywhere.

My friend just told me her son was not admitted into the preschool at this school. PRESCHOOL? Then another pulled her kid out of K. What is going in there? Isnt Catholic education supposed to take in everyone? They are sending kids to St Josephs as they think that is where special ed kids go? Who is deciding this? What degrees do these people have? I was going to see this place in January as I am moving to the area. I am going to Bay now. It took me four times to get through over 2 days.

I just heard the wonderful principal I met at Open House is gone. My friend says with Our Lady of Mercy is about to close this is the start of schools reorganizing before they close. Does anyone know about this? I am not sure I want to now stay in this school. I liked St. Mary's, too. I heard not all teachers there are certified and the new principal. HELP!

This school is generally wonderful. My children have done fine. It has exceeded my expectations. The principal and the new staff have been role models for my girls. I am worried about middle school there and unless I see changes in one particular teacher we might have to go. I have a few years. They do a good job but I think they need to address very bright children. There is a lot of large group instruction before going into groups. But for faith and safety, HARS is great. I love the principal and her secretary.

The math teacher is terrible. Cates about herself and not the kids. I had to pay for a tutor on top of tuition.send your child there for the younger grades. After gr5 move on.

I have been very happy at Holy Angels. The tuition is affordable and the teachers really care. It is too bad the nuns are gone. I would have liked my child being taught by a nun but I am glad the HARS teachers are as good as they are. If I could change anything about the school, I would have an attached gym and have the children make sacraments in the school..Others should know that the school is a part of many parishes.

I visited the school during Catholic Schools week. I am registering my child to start there in the fall. I likes the feeling of the school and the conversations I had with other parents. The principal is approachable. I enjoyed my conversation with her about education and techniques used in the classes. I found some upstairs teachers a little too opinionated and the lower grade teachers much gentler. Maybe that is the nature of the grade and children. The school is clean and there was music and laught6er in the hall.

Holy Angels Regional School is an excellent school. The new staff is dynamic and sensitive. The school quickly responds to any question that develops. Frankly, I was not happy with Common Core.I was not sure why a Catholic school had to adopt it. After seeing the work my daughter has returned home I am more than impressed with how the school has followed it. The way the principal explained, the school follows the standards and the teachers meet the needs of the student and class. I did not know NY had standards even before this common core started. I think now many of the problems are more public school related than Catholic school.

Wonderful, warm, inviting school. I am thrilled with the new teachers this year. Their skill of technology, their dedication and their knowledge of common core standards can make a great school even greater. My son is making connections to many subjects. He is teaching me.

Holy Angels Regional School is a well kept secret. The teachers are top notch and the administrator is smart and savvy. She tells it like it is with grace and style. More parents are finding out what a jewel this place is. If you want a school where your child will come home happy, have homework and a school that communicates- this is for you.

My children and family love Holy Angels. We could not be happier. The principal has made the school beautiful. The changes in the facilities are amazing. It was dated. She has worked very hard in so many ways. She replies to parents quickly! I am so impressed. There is a sensitivity to working families and expenses. There have been wonderful additions to the programs like field trips, FAST athletics, after school programs and changes to schedules which did not work. My children are happy there and learning!

After Sr. Elise, there was a principal who left after 3 years. The one we have now ( in her second year) is working so hard to keep the school a CATHOLIC school. It is not a private school. Kids wear uniforms, follow dress code and say prayers. They learn and stay safe. The only bullies in the school are the parents who want to have their child be considered special when they are just brats. I am so tired of parents who want to keep their child thinking they are royalty. It does them such a disservice.

My entire family went and still goes to Holy Angels. This school is an excellent place to learn and build your educational and spiritual foundation. The principal does a great job promoting the academic, religious and personal development of her students and she insists that the teachers challenge them both in the classroom and with homework. If you want Catholic faith-based academics I highly recommend it.

I attended Holy Angels from Kindergarten all the way through eighth grade, and am currently a sophomore at St. John the Baptist. I still distinctively remember my eighth grade year as a time of anxiety, looking forward to the next four years of high school. However, as the final days at Holy Angels drew near, I wanted nothing more than to stay. Holy Angels has excellent, challenging teachers who teach their students to think outside the box, and yes, the teachers do care about their students. The teachers there helped both myself and my fellow classmates prepare for the high school entrance exam (I received over $7000 worth of scholarship money, and my class of 39 kids was awarded more than $37,000) as well as the New York State Tests. The staff is very religious, and helped me get an early start on my love for religion. However, one of the defining highlights of Holy Angels is the family-like bond that occurs between the classes. After attending school with the same 39 people, I felt like I lost a part of my family. There's just too many positive aspects that I can't fit it in one post....send your kid to Holy Angels. It's an amazing school.

Holy Angels is an excellent school. The teachers are very dedicated and help the child to reach his or her own potential. Many parents were unhappy with the principal that we had after Sr. Elise. However, the new principal is full of enthusiasm and truly works to make the school top notch. I can not understand parents stating that their aren't opportunities for parent involvement because there are plenty of opportunities. It also amazes me that a parent would state that the teachers don't care whether or not the child learns. I find the contrary to be true. My child's third grade teacher still e-mails me and gives suggestions for helping my daughter with reading. I have taught in public school, and I can tell you firsthand that the education provided at Holy Angels is far superior. The education is more than academics. The children live their faith every day; it is central to everything that they do, and it should be. I love Holy Angels- from the secretary who is so sweet and helpful, to the principal who strives for more, to the teachers who want the most for their students, to the family that you become a part of. I would definitely recommend Holy Angels.

The new principal has not improved the school. Under her guidance, the students have been overloaded with extra prayers and overwhelmed by rambling and confusing lectures about Jesus and the saints. The school needs to go back to what it did before this year: helping students become well-educated people who strive to live as Jesus lived.

I sent my son to this school for 4 years. Now that he is in HS, he doesn't have the tools he should have been taught. There is no parent involement. They will never admit when something is wrong. The new princple is a joke. She tries to smooth talk you instead of doing what is necessary. The teachers don't really seem to care if a child is learning or not, they just teach. Who cares what the kids are getting out of it. I regret ever sending my son to this school.

One cannot be specific when giving a comment due the fact that people would be able to guess who the comment came from. I loved this school under the old principal. I felt she was fair, knew each child personally and was always there for meetings etc. The new principal leaves by 4pm daily, is not fair and I have heard her shouting at the children. I find her not approachable at all. I have recommended this school in the past to many people but will not do it again.

I wish reviewers would be more specific when leaving reviews - especially negative ones. We're considering Holy Angels and find Mrs Martinez helpful, intelligent, and kind - we're worried though about what could have caused two such negative reviews in the past year!

Holy Angels is an excellent school; both academically & spiritually. We're on our 3rd child here and we all have been very satisfied and proud of Holy Angels. We also have a top rate middle school athletics program! I would highly reccomend Holy Angels over any public school. They have a zero tolerence for fighting, bulling, harrassment and all othe student inappropiate behavior. Kudos!

I have been with the school for 13 years and now. My oldest son graduated 4 years ago and I one other son still attends Holy Angels. The school academically excels. Teachers are extremely dedicated and it shows as students score extremely high the New York State tests. Over the last several years, the school has implemented many sports and extracurricular activities. Holy Angels is now a member of the Catholic Middle School Athletic Association and participates in such sports as soccer, cross-country, basketball, softball, and baseball. Extracurricular activities include bowling, cheerleading, brownies, Girl & Boy Scouts, Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, and a after care program until 5:30 p.m. 80% of the classroom are equipped with promethean boards for interactive education. The third classes utilize palm pilots. There is a state-of-the-art computer lab. Scholarships are available. Check it out. You'll pleasantly surprised!

Holy Angels is a wonderful school. OUr children have been very happy since they became students in 2nd grade and kindergarten. Academically, the school is top-notch. Our children are also at the top of their classes. It takes a lot of dedication and hard work as a parent to keep up and excel. It's all worth it though, when report card time comes around. I wish the new pricncipal much luck in her new endeavor but I miss Sister Elises's presence, greatly. She had a quiet, calmness about her that made everyone realize that things were in control. We look forward to many successful years at Holy Angels.

Holy Angels is a wonderful, elite school. It's filled with enrichment, spirituallity and love. Holy Angels' not only the best private school in the area but best overall. Academically, Holy Angels is top notch and outscores all of the local public schools. The student are offered many excellent choices in education and extra curricular activities. Holy Angels excels in academics and athletics. They are members of the CMSAA and participate in Boys and Girls Cross-Country, Soccer, Basketball, Bowling, Baseball and Softball. Holy Angels has won championships in Girls Basketball (2 years in a row undefeated) and Softball (2 years in a row)! I am extremely satisfied with the quality education that my children recieve at Holy Angels. I'm very proud of our school, it's students and faculty.

I went to holy angels since kindergarten and have graduated in the class of 06. The nine years i spent here as a student has not only been academically successful but socially as well. Now after almost years of leaving this school I still am bestfriends with the whole class . You as a parent should send you child to holy angels not only because it's a catholic school but because the teachers are exemplary and concerned they get to know you so it's easier to learn as well since the classes are small you become bestfriend with everyone even if there new we act like we have known them our whole life. This makes it easier to learn as well because you know your friends are there for tutoring. Also there is play .Sports and band program which I can say I did every year it was offered .

My son has attended HA since kindergarten. I am very pleased with the quality of the academic portion of his education. There is some improvement needed in the areas of art, music & technology. The only real concern I have is that some teachers have been there a very long time and don't really show the high level of enthusiasm towards teaching that a parent would like to see. Discipline is good although somewhat uneven handed at times depending on who the student is (more specifically who the parent is). Sports were introduced last year and that has been wonderful and the annual play productions are great! Small class sizes really lend to a conducive learning environment and all the kids are like one big family! Overall, I've been happy and believe that my son's fine character has been shaped in part to the education he has received here!

I am now a studen tof this school going into 7th grade. I have been here since third grade believe me when i tell u that it was a very easy transition here. they have some of the nicest teachers here and there is not a lot of children in one class. The most that I have had was 30. You won't have to worry about getting lost...your class is in all the same classes at the same time at all times.I could tell you so many more thing to tell you about my school, but I'm running out of room! I really hope that you will believe when I say this is the best school I've ever been to and I've tried Public and private includidng here.Makig friends to last is a definite. My friend and I have been best friends since my first day in 3rd grade.Bye!

I am a former student of this school. I attended this school from 4th grade until 8th grade last year when I graduated. I now attend St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington, NY and am a top student in my class. I believe that my experiences at Holy Angels prepared me for my future education and allowed my to explore my potential through both academics and the student community. The student body is one of a family. The class numbers are small, allowing students to make many friends within their own grade and know everyone. The staff is outstanding. Sister Mary Elise is one of the greatest people I have ever met and is a wonderful principal. Keep up the good work Holy Angels!
