Indian River High School is a good school for education, the teachers are really one on one with you and you learn alot! Its also gets huge amounts of Goverment money due to the huge military population, the military kids me being a former one and still going to Indian River are a great help, they bring ideas from outside and add to the exposure of kids to new cultures. However there are some problems, the first one being that if you dont play sports or do some kind of theatre you are treated way diffrent by teachers and other students its kind of a caste system here with hope to move up though. Another problem is fights, there are alot of them from time to time but its still a safe school all together, sometimes the school could lighten up on rules but we also have alot more freedom

I've been to several different schools, and Indian River is one of the better schools I've been to. There is something for everyone at IRHS. Our school has an amazing theater and our school puts on a musical and several plays throughout the year. I have been impressed by every play or musical I've seen. IRHS has something for you. Our football and basketball teams are great and there are several other sports to choose from. Our school also has a Forensics team, science clubs, FFA, student council, SADD, S2S, German, Latin, and French clubs, as well as many others. Our school has very good academics too. There are advanced english classes, several different college credit classes and our school offers 4 different levels of Spanish, French, Latin and German. Like every other school, it has its flaws, but I still believe that IRHS is an excellent school.

Being a current student at this district i would have to say that I'm sure there are far better learning environments that Indian River. The principals would much rather pull you out of class to assign you a night of detention or have you move your vehicle because its in the faculty parking area than let you prosper in your education in an uninterupted learning environment. Even though I have been involved in sports for most of my years at this school I have noticed kids being neglected because they choose not to be an athlete or part of the drama club, and to be frank it's very sad.

Indian River High School has lived up to my expectations. They offer great academic programs and acknowledge if your child is not in the correct class and will place them in an appropriate class level. Their sports program are great, they show great sportsmanship and enthusiasm. Great diversity due to the vast amount of military children in the school. They make you feel at home. If you have a child who is enthusiastic about their studies and extra-curricular activities this is the school for them.

Overall Indian River is a great school. A word of advice to parents of juniors and seniors, the guidance office is not heavily involved with steering in the right direction as far as college prep is concerned. A little more one on one would be great for college-bound students. There is a new principal this year, hopefully the quality of leadership will remain constant or improve.

I was a local kid and went to this school since pre-school. It has it's ups and downs - but overall a great school. We offer many programs that the small schools in the area can't. We also see some of the 'real world' with all the diversification. The military and local kids mix and teach each other things. The classes are mixed, so you meet people in different grade levels. Most teachers are willing to work with a child if they need help. Counselors... hopefully you get a female. They seem more understanding and about the child's future and plans (or lack of). Sports programs and theater programs are fantastic!

I could only wish we had not transfered and my children could still attend IRHS.... Excellent learning school

Indian river is a good size place with a racially mixed population. My kids complain about race relations. The Army kids aren't always accepted because they are different and have other ideas and accents. Hope for one of the women counselors. Summer school is free which is great. Even though the school is 9-12, kids aren't only in class with other kids in their grade. A Senior could be taking class with a Freshman. The way that the school looks at the grades is like college, it is how many credits and subjects that you have at the end that count, not what you have each year.

Indian River is a school that has received much funding from the government because of the large military student population. This has enabled them to provide a variety of extracurricular activities. Unfortunately, unless you are an athlete or heavily involved in one of the premier activities (Jazz Rock), you are pretty much ignored. Teachers range between superior to awful and the Teacher's Union prevents any action against the poor ones. Even though taxes to support this school are extremely high, they plan to cut numerous programs next year, beginning with girl's sports. There are heavy undercurrents between local kids and military kids. I wish that I had listened to other military parents before sending my children there. It's not bad but not great either.

Indian River is the best school in the state as far as I am concerned. Indian River has a brand new multi-million dollar theatre. A great theatre/drama department. Indian River also has a wonderful Jazz Band Musical Ensemble and Jazz Rock Vocal and Dance Ensmeble. Indian River is one of few schools with a String Orchestra program starting in grade 4-12. This school also has a wonderfull sports program including a champion football team and great baseball team. Indian River has much funding and no student is left behind. Indian River has more computers than any school in a 300 mile radius. With over 3000 brand new computers River has enough for every student. They even have there own tech right at the school. Visit there site to find out more and come to Indian River. 'We Really Mean Success.' www.ircsd.org
