Warring Magnet Academy is not the worst school in the Poughkeepsie City School District; however, it comes pretty darn close. There is a definite lack of guidance and learnership from the principal, Mr. James Foster. His lack of commitment to the children and to issues in education is apparent. With this in mind, I must admit that there are some benefits to the school. For example, the music department, headed by Mrs. Erica McCoy, is one of the best I have seen. Students are exposed to a wide range of musical selections and experiences and it's not just chorus. There is a recorder ensemble, guitar group, bell ensemble and Orff ensemble. Students also recieve quality education from dedicated instructors such as Mrs. Sieving, who are willing and vocal advocates for their students.

Warring School is not the worst school. Yes it definetly needs improvement. The school has been there for many years. Parents need to get involved more and stop blaming the staff and or principle. The school also needs for more parents to get involved with PTA. Stop complaning and do something to help improve the school system.

The building was dirty and run down. The principal was rude and not at all helpful. The staff spoke 'black english'. I was not impressed by anything. The neighborhood is unsafe.
