I am a former student of PHS, and the reason i give this school such a high rating is because as a student i saw an effort towards improvement. the school has been put under new leadership and they have been putting their best foot forward in order to better educate the students of PHS

Poughkeepsie High School has been given a bad name. Unless you have experienced school enviorement for yourself then you will never understand what a great school is truly is. The students of PHS are great and and accepting of anyone new. The cirriculum is great also. the honors program is oustanding. The staff is great and they all putin 100% with every student to make sure they pass. Although PHS has a reputation for being wild and unsafe, you have to learn to look pass all that because you'll never know what it's really like unless you break through the tuff shell on the outside and make your way to the inside to the warm middle. When you do that you'll truly see what Poughkeepsie High School is all about.

Poughkeepsie is a good school for honors student . The teachers care if you care. The school can be so unruly that the teachers do not help .Attendance is bad.I only suggest Poughkeepsie to the people who are intelligent who will have a better experience or anyone who is willing to take on the challenge.

I have had to take two out of three of my sons out of this school because of violence. The superintendent has recently quit so I hope that it will do better now, and that we will gain zero tolerance for the non sense.

I am not a parent, but as a sophmore I can say that PHS is a outstanding school. After coming from India I thought it would be hard for me to adjust, but it was very easy. The students were very friendly and nice. PHS is excellent in sports and in educational fields it has a very high standard. The staff is outstanding and we all try to do our best. Studying in PHS will be a great experience for all those who get this opportunity.

Well, I'm not really a parent, but I am a current student. As a Junior, and having had 3 years worth of experience at PHS, I can honestly say going to this school has been an enlightening and educationally stimulating experience. The school has a very good staff overall with exceptional Social Studies, English and Foreign Languages departments. The teachers are always willing to help students, and have a vested interest in not only their academic growth, but also their emotional and social growth. I am very happy my parents let me choose to go here, I would not change my decision for anything, rather I am extremely proud of my high school, although I do believe the administration could use some improvements.

As a former student, I can say that Poghkeepsie High is a very good school. It has an execellent staff. I am not thrilled by the present administration but, overall it is a good place to send your child to school.
