Excellent ,dedicated teachers and support staff. They have resources for Talented and the Challenged. I have both and the school is excellent at addressing the needs of all children. Great School Spirit. Music , Art, and Gym Teachers are also Great in helping children reach their full potential. A++
Under the stewardship of Barbara Craft-Reiss, this school is the jewel in the Spackenkill crown! I have never met such a group of dedicated professionals whose love for children guides everything they do. Thanks to the teachers and staff at this wonderful school, my two children are truly reaching their potential. I feel blessed that my children are attending a public school that, if it were a private school, I would have to probably spend thousands and thousands of dollars in tuition for the same privilege.
This school was up to date on technology until the last few years and now they plan on cutting the technology integration teacher position and no new hardware or software upgrades are planned. They have fallen behind neighboring districts in this crucial area.
Excellent small school. Less than 300 kids. grades k-5. Clubs/activites - Oddessy of the Mind, TAG, Continental Math League, Chorus, Band.
Very nice, small school. Full-day kindergarten! Only 2 classes per grade, resulting in a close- knit, comforting environment. Hagan sends all their special-ed children here so the test scores are not balanced when comparing these 2 Spackenkill Elem. Schools! The Principal and staff are wonderful. Parental involvement is encouraged, and frequently allowed in the classroom. I hear that the lunches are lousy...District-wide. 'Odyssey of the Mind' teams are here (This is the only district in Dutchess County that participates), and they have been top-notch. My son's team went to the O.M.World Finals in 2002. (In Colorado!) I am told that the Special Needs Children are very lovingly educated in this school's programs. Some families have moved to this area for the programs here. Facilities could use some updating. Music teacher is superb!
