I am a recent graduate of Spackenkill High School and never appreciated how excellent the school truly is upon graduation. The extra curriculars and AP courses that I took throughout my time at Spackenkill High School prepared me for college. However, it is very cliquey but once you find your group of friends you will keep them after high school.
Excellent Education, especially for students willing to put forth the effort. High college placement and many get into prestigious schools. Many extracurriculars, and lots of APs offered for such a small school. A small public school, so there is definitely drama, and cliques. No high school experience is without that.
We moved into Area 10 years ago. We enrolled our kids in one of the better Catholic Schools, but after a couple of years realizing how good the Spackenkill District was! We had no hesitation to place our elementary school kids into the district. We could not be happier, although the Elelmentary Principal can be anoying, overall she enforces a great school ethic and practice. Now that the eldest is going into 10th Grade, we are so pleased with the H.S. and their staff.. Only set back as being a relatively small school, the extra curricular activities don't have as much in their budget.. nevertheless they have good parent involvement into their clubs. Spack is not perfect but it is a great school.
This is a very competitive school. The teachers are good, although some can be a pain. Parents are somewhat involved in the students work, although the students can handle themselves. There is just too much 'drama' in this school, and for this reason, I would not recommend it.
