Education is Horrible. Principal Thomas Carty doesn't care too much. He will brush you off with a "I'll handle the situation" when in fact nothing gets resolved. Old principal Lombardi was a better Administrator who was on top of teachers and Made sure teachers gave each student the help they needed. If a student didn't understand the lesson, teachers made sure students learned the lesson when Principal Lombardi was running the school. Now teachers are getting away with it and students are suffering. Education in this school isn't what it use to be 5 years ago.
Teachers are extremely ineffective. Teachers do not help students fully understand the material. They help them out once and move on to the next student even if that student before still doesn't understand the work. Teachers are failing our children.
Teachers give too much homework. They expect the students to go home and get every question right. If the Teacher sees a child didn't answer a problem, they get mad. They expect the child to know all the answers.
I am actually moving out of the once was a great school area. After the previous principal left the school has really been deteriorating under Cart's leadership. standards have been lowered as far as teachers' accountability. With the school building expansion they plan on enrolling tons of more students instead of alleviating the pressure on the students who barely get out 10 minutes class session after they battle their way through getting to each class location. Cleanliness is way down, bathrooms are a disgrace, very inorganized and very tough for the little ones.
with over crowded classrooms, most of the learning takes place at home, due to the time lost moving all students from one class to the other-even teachers admit that they barely get 20 minutes to instruct 40 students (making it harsh on 1st graders)
This School needs to work on a safety procedures. I was in the office and my niece came down from her class unattended, without any adult supervision. Students should be accompanied by an adult when they get out of their classroom. They should not roam around the hallways alone. I was shocked to witness my niece come to the office all alone. She's only in kindergarten.
