A significant amount would say that this school gives a negative impression. But over the years, the kids have changed. All the bad kids have left. New kids are coming into the school every year, and they are coming from sophisticated elementary schools. This school has the equal amount of education as other schools. Please don't call it the worst school ever.

One of the worst middle school ever. Bullying is rampant. I know, my son got bullied several times. This school was even in the news because a child comitted suicide because she got bullied in this school. Most of the children here don't respect each others individuality. I hope school official will do their best to lessen bullying.

At the end of the school day when the kids leave i have to close my windows because of the amount of profanity that comes out of their mouths.

The children of this school are extremely unruly. Living in the neighborhood for over 20 years, the kids are getting worse. They trespass onto private property, drop their garbage as they please and give a disrespectful attitude when asked to pick it up. Every afternoon the children gather in a fight disturbing the neighborhood with their vulgar and profane behavior. I would hate to see this school close, because the children will only get worse. Parents need to educate their children on appropriate behavior in and out of school. That is not a teacher nor the school's job.

Ah, this school is so interesting. The teachers here are pretty good, but the environment is kind of harsh on certain people. A lot of peer pressure....and a lot of people getting messed up.....I'm so glad my child chose the right path <3

The school is okay if you go in the wrong crowd fights break out over stupidity and some of the kids feel if they set a tough rep for themselves people will fear them but if you see right hrough their 'sheild' they wont do anything and have great friends they'll always be there for you Overall I love IS 109 the teachers care their strict with you and they have a tough policy that you HAVE TO FOLLOW...NO CHOICE

This school is okay. The environment isn't that bad but you just need to make sure you are in the SP classes and do your work. Every week, they reward good students in the classes with FBI, which stands for Found Being Incredible. We go to a room with candy, boardgames, computers, pool tables, play stations, and gifts for us. It's so much fun. If you do your work, be a leader, join student government, and get yourself in an SP with positive friends, it's great here. Don't end up with the wrong crowd.

This school is great, but it has it's downs. There is no more pre nursing, which is now replaced with pre engineering class. There are no after school activities and art is limited. But all of the other subjects are awesome. Hard workload, and your lucky if you get into the honors class. Don't bother any small cliques and none will bother you, which is a simple rule. This school is extremely STRICT so be aware! This is one of the best schools and although the school needs Mr. Blake, the ex principal back, the new one is doing well too.

My child has been going to IS109 for 3 years now she has been doing very well. I believe this school is a very good. The students in this school are much more respectable than some other students in other schools. They have really been working with the students to make the school even better. My other daughter is going to attend this school this year. I just wish they focus on giving the students an art class since many are interested in arts. IS109 is truly a wonderful school and I love the way they go about patrolling the school to protect both the students and the school.

I attended this school about two years ago when mr.Blake was there, so now i'm about to be a junior in highschool. I believe that the school was better when mr.Blake was there. Many people considered 109 to be a 'bad' school, but i think it was just some of the kids. If you do your work and don't get into any drama then you'll be ok.

I am a senior at Jean Nuzzi I.S.109, and the Salutatorian of the graduating 8th grade class. It is a pretty good school with lots of spirit. Its not as bad as many people say. In terms of education, most of Jean Nuzzi's teachers know what they're doing, and place passion in getting their students to learn and succeed. There are a couple fights once in a while, but nowadays its not so bad. The new principal, Mrs.Pate, is doing a pretty good job. This school is not the best place for shy people, but if you are willing to learn and a bold student, without a doubt, you can suceed here.

This is one of the worst schools ever. It is so sad to see the school quickly declining. The fights and the principal who is unable to control the kids because she is so inexperienced is a horrible thing to see. I mean really, 2 bomb threats in one year are just ridiculous. The afterschool programs that use to be there is no longer there. The parent involvement is not there anymore because the principal does not want parents involved unless you only have good things to say. I had no choice but to transfer my daughter out and after I worked so hard to get her in that school, it is a travesty!

This school is a great school as long as you mind your business and work hard. I was very quiet at first in the school. I ignored the bad habits of other students and worked hard each day. I ended up becoming valedicotrian Sonam

I am currently a student in the seventh grade, and I am appalled at the condition of this school. There is no discipline whatsoever! I have never heard the F word so many times. The teachers are completely and utterly stressed out because none of the kids will ever stop talking. The cafeteria is a nightmare, its comparable to a prison cafeteria, with guards shouting and blowing whistles. If you can avoid this school you definitely should. Just a few days ago there was a threat to the building, however, the principal was not willing to admit it. I honestly do not feel safe in this school at all.

I am student for the school's gifted program and I am in the eighth grade. If your child is in the gifted program I am almost completely sure that they will do well and may even get to be in part of the special programs like pre-nursing, pre-law, pre-dental and pre-engineering. As an eighth grader you also take the regents. Besides that tell your child to become very focused in school especially the seventh grade because those final scores play a large role in getting into good high schools and start studying for the SHSAT's.

I just recently graduated this school from a SP class. I must agree that the Science Department is strong, offering ambitious students in the eigth grade the oppurtunity to take either The Living Environment Regents or the Earth Science Regents - which I was priveledged to take. They also offer a Pre-Nursing Program, which I was also honored to participate in. This school would be great if they selected students by a screening process. Some of the zoned students are out of control and destroy the school academically and physically.

I went to this school. It was a nightmare. The SP classes were fine, but the zoned students were very hard on us. The science program was the strongest.

Jean Nuzzi has great programs for the children and they have a very strict principal. I think that this is needed for the children today. The uniform policy is also very great because now there won't be any fuss with the children of this school.
