Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This school is great. There are great teachers and para-professionals there. Maybe people do not know but among other schools this is one of the schools that handicapped children have the opportunity to attend. This year has been challenging though. As much as the school (the administration) would like to help, there are some children that need more attention than the school could provide. This school hasn't backed down though and has accepted the challenge to TRY and for that I give them an A-plus.

My child goes to P.S. 135Q - The Bellaire School. THE WORST SCHOOL EVER! Since day 1, my daughter has been bullied by her classmate, and the teacher does nothing about it, yet this school is said to be "Bully Free". The VP won't do anything, other than making claims that she wasn't there (so obviously it didn't happen), making my daughter out to be a liar. Her class teacher, scolds and lectures her, every time she went to complain about the bully.Repeatedly, we've tried to talk to the principal and school about this, but till today, nothing is being done, and my daughter comes home from school, sad and hurt. My daughter who used to love going to school, now absolutely hates school, because of this school. Save your kid, if you want them to have a good positive learning experience, don't send them to this school, for the love of God.

This is a good school because they really care about the children. They help them to strive for greatness with awarding them for being student of the month and are very informative when it come to state test and different events. The school and the grounds are well maintained.

This school improved. When my older child used to attend here, the school wasn't as well as it is now. The Standerized State Test Scores have improved, the extracurricular activities have improved, with a great variety for elementary children. All teachers are dedicated and care about where your child will be going for middle school. I couldn't ask for anything better than 135!

I love this school. It was an experience of a lifetime, with many options. My children always walked out of school with a smile. In 5th grade, a few kids start to think that he/she is all that and start to make fun of kids, classes in whole, but all matters are immediatley handled and I love that. This school is safe, and a happy place to be. Highly reccommended.

This school has improved greatly and is one of the best schools I think there are in New York City for elemantry! The staff is so dedicated and so are the teachers. They work hard to make sure students get the best and only the best. 4th and 5th get to participate in Dancing Classrooms. There are many amazing programs after school such as Drama, Dance, Band, and a small Haitian Club. There is a huge choice avaliable for middle schools. You don't face alot of peer pressure and its just an extraordinary school in the whole. We get to take trips to Camp Broadway, JIB Lanes and we got junk food, and even baseball games. The kids are so friendly. You can make a friend in a minute! The graduation ceremony is also outstanding at a church and their is also a senior dance and a yearbook. I love 135!!!!!!!

This school is a very good elementary school. I think it needs some new 5th grade teachers. Many of the 5th grade teachers are amazing and others are tired and put alot of pressure on the kids. Some of the 5th grade teachers I like, others I dislike. They need some new ones. Overall, this school is okay. The activites are great and the cooperation is good. I'd give it a b plus right away!

This school has a safe and caring environment. Students use the programs Everyday Mathematics Online and Renzulli Learning. Renzulli is probably the best expericence I ever had. I got to do the things I love all through the year and still do everything else. I would like to thank the world's best teacher's- Mrs.Kohl, Ms.Gabrielsen, Ms.Duncan, Ms. Cruz-Lopez, and Ms.Lachman. They really are woking hard and students are showing progress. This is the best school ever. Ms.Nelson is also amazing. She is serious and funny which helps drive interest in subjects. I am graduating this year. I will truly miss this school more than any other. The middle school options are amazng. So are the extra activities. The principal made the kids write to soldiers each year. He is excellent. There are no discipline problem students in the school. Parent get involved all the time, whether to help classes or PTA.

This school has mostly a popualtion of Guyanese, Filipino, and Indian. If you consider your children hanging around a majority of these type of kids, this school is for you. There is a black american club to allow black students who come from different countries such as Haiti to stick together and learn English together, just to give foreign children a little warm welcome. They do international dancing (which I loved!) Ms.D, the dance teacher was awsome. We did Indian dancing, hip hop, and others and had so much fun. This year, we are working on the play of The Little Mermaid. The boys in the class are doing band and the kids in chorus are going to take a trip to a hospital and sing a Christmas welcome to sick people. I think that is just charming. Graduating students have huge oppurtunities for middle schools. such as Scholar's Academy.

This is school is excellent. Please believe this comment only. The teachers are caring. They have afterschool programs for drama, dance, and band. These programs are free! They also have a Black American club. Last year, me and my best friend got to sing in a school competition since we are apart of the chorus, and PS.135Q got gold! Also, in grades 4 and 5, students get to learn a choice of language (Russian, Greek, or Spanish.) These clubs are also free. They also prepare you for middle school by giving strict homework and uniform rules, detention, and switching of teachers rules in the 5th grade. They had the program of Dancing Classrooms come to the school for grades 4 and 5. It was a wonderful experience that helped teach the students respect. For the senior year, 5th graders had a senior dance, a yearbook, and a beautiful graduation ceremony.

This school has an excellent academic structure. The children are well behaved. The afterschool program is also very good and is a big help for working parents. My son is in Kindergarten and he gets a lot of homework every night which is great it keeps his mind stimulated. I can see that he is learning a lot and is more advanced than my friend's son who is also attending another Public school close by but he only gets one paper of homework which is basically to write one letter or number in his Kindergarten class. The standard of education at PS 135 and overall structure of the school is excellent it's like getting the same standard of education in private school but without the high cost.

This is a very good school. My daughter has learned to read and write in spanish and english. She loves her teachers and her classmates. She looks forward to attending school everyday. The only problem is no free after school program. The program they have is very expensive and not worth the money. They definately need more after schools programs and more activites.

This is a great school. The teachers care about teaching the kids. Not just getting their degree through some program that they are teaching for free in order to get their masters. The children are well behaved and the parents are involved. The plays and shows they put on are spectacular. A great school with a great music program and art program and excellent igc teachers. The trips are and experience that you as a parent will want to go on and be a part of..Your child will not forget the teachers or the friends they make much less the things they learn

I was a student of PS 135- graduating in the Class of 1999. I was very pleased with this school, as it began my extracurricular advancements with 'Top classes', book clubs with the vice principal, math club, and opportunities to learn the instrument I still play today: the clarinet. 135 begins students involvement at a young age, which is quite effective. I really enjoyed my time there!

I believe the quality of academic programs are fair. I would like to see more structured programs, as well as a free afterschool program. I think the course work is too demanding and that the classrooms are crowded.

The Bellaire School, otherwise known as P.S. 135, needs a major overhaul before the new school year. The administration is very involved, in student success, however the teachers are completing their required courses at the expense of the students. I enrolled my child in the school due to its reputation for high standards, and so that my child could be in a neighborhood school. However, I would not reccommend this school to anyone. There are bullies, laxidazical teachers and just a sense of a disconnected school. They really need to get there act together. I too, was a student many years ago, but the new surgence of administrators and principals have left the bellaire school, in the dust. Organization is lacking and dissention is ever present. My advice visit the school before entrusting them with your child, and talk to some parents. There is no P.T.A.

I am a former student of PS 135, and I was very pleased with the teaching that I recieved there. The teachers, Mrs. Greenfield/ Mrs. St Vil, were very supportive of everything I ever tried to do. Thank you! -Reshma Balmick

ps 135 need to be upgrade their school curriculum My son is attending this school it seems like teachers are getting their salary for nothing because his not learning anything he comes home with one homework every single day and what he did in class I don't think is sufficient for a 5th grade student and most of them do not comprehen half of what they teaching them that is sad for our future student because most teachers they do not concern about the student they just need a job so I hope you will look through what I wrote because there's rumors out there that said ps 135 is the worst school ever but I proceed by letting my son attend this school and I am very disappointed.

3 of my 5 children graduated from P.S. 135 and I have found the teachers as well as the staff to be of high standards and giving genuine care to/for their students. In my opinion, their academics were of high standards and very much rewarding in my children's growth. The only reason 3 of my children graduated is because we had to move out of state while my 4th was still in 2nd grade. This school and all it's teachers and staff are still very much missed!
