There is no consistency across classes or grades. Each teacher seems to do whatever they want.

Avoid this school if you can. Issues such as bullying are not addressed and the school's leadership is seriously lacking

The school is okay. When you drop your kids off get ready to leave them on the steps. They have a girl there that tells you to leave your kid and go. Strange!!! She needs to get a real job!

My son is in first grade now. I am so regret i send him there. The school focus to keep all the kids remain control, not focus on study. They want to emiliate all the nature away from being a kid like a 6 years old. My kid was happy in PK, which was nice. Now, he does not want to go to school, because he doesnot know what would happen. You will figure out fast but dont repeat my mistake take action late. I wont sign in next year. By the way, my kid is a hard working boy.

The parent involvement is unbelievable. Every trip and anything they have parents are always there to help and do whatever. The school is small so everyone knows everyone. The teachers are wonderful!! Love this school!! It's like FAMILY!!

My daughter just completed her first year here and I thought the school was first rate. They are very strong with e-mail communication to get parents involved at every opportunity without over burdening already busy parents. My daughter felt very loved and cared for in the school. From the moment I dropped her off in the morning I could see the care they took.

My son entered PS 193 this past year. He is in the 5th grade. I must say that this wonderful and caring school took a school phobic child and turned him into a new person. He loves school! I have no problem getting him to go to school, like I did in the past at his prior school. Mr.E is a wonderful teacher. Made my son feel so at ease . I wish that my son could have been here from the time his educational career began. All I can say is thank you!!!!

I am a parent and am becoming disappointed in the way the principal handles bullying behavior. This issue should be taken more seriously.

When I moved to Whitestone, I heard nothing but good things about PS 193. But I am completely and utterly disappointed. Last year in kindergarten my child had an incompetent teacher. This year, thank goodness my child's teacher is wonderful but that is where anything great ends. The principal is never to be seen, always hiding in her office. At PTA meetings she never answers questions honestly, always scurring around real issues. There needs to be a change!

My son attende PS 195 from K-5th, thank goodness this is our last year. The Administration has slowly and steadily ruined this one time great school. They hid in their offices, turn their back on bullies and problematic children. They are backed up by an incompentent staff of guidance counselors. The teachers truly save the school. Their frustrations with the pricinpal is visable and felt in every way. What a shame, a beautiful school, parent involvement, good kids....the children are suffering at the hands of a staff that cannot see them as inviduals, assess their needs and move forward.

I have 2 children in 5 & 6 grade and now with the elimination of citywide exams replaced with statewide exams, I have seen more emphasis on academic. The teachers always have had a emphasis on individuality of the students and had given them a range of great amount to very little amount depending on the teacher. They do have them go to various cultural events throughout the school year. They do not provide any foreign language instruction which is a minus. Over the years the student class size has increased steadily. My 5th grader has 34 students in his class and the other class has 37 students, but nothing can be done due to the NYC Board of Education guidelines of a certain # of students over to qualify for a 3rd class for the 5th grade.

This school has been a supportive and nuturing environment for our daughter the staff and teachers have always been helpful and ready to assist our family with all our concerns. The PTA is great and very involved with the school activities. I would highly recommend this school to any one in search of a top public school in Queens. There is limited after school activity but they have recently added dance to the school curriculum which my daughter loved.

As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.
